You might think it is bad for whatever reason but that short monk might think it is honor to him and he can brag about it. He got a chance to take a picture with European lady and he might think he is lucky.

I don't see anything bad with that photo.
They girl did not touch the monk,
and the monk did not touch a girl.
It is kind of cultural understanding.

Laotian custom, No women can be that close to a monk. Monk can always stand further from female. This monk just chose not to.

Relgiously speaking, It is wrong for all women to stand equally with monks. They should sit down or stay further a bit from monk.
As it is true that when monk stand near women, it will make them feel the chemistry ... naturally, it happens to all men when they get near women espcially those who are young .. if you read the buddist story, you will understand why this is totally inappropriate for monks

It is okay, she didn't have her arm around his neck or anything like that.  I think she wants a picture with a monk to show all her friends.

what you said reflects that you don't really have a brain to think.. if she has her arm around the monk then it is even worst already.. how can she possibly do that? Lao culture, religions teach people to respect the buddha's way of life... if you think this is acceptable in Lao society then you must be sick.. there shouldn't be any temple.. **** you people !!

Yes, he is very lucky to have a chance to practice his English. I saw nothing wrong with a short monk and a tall White woman. How many of you are as lucky as this short Lao monk?

That's not right way to do, woman should sitdown and far away little bit from the monk, not standing side by side like couple.

Yes, it is not so appropriate way to do. But if we think that even Dalai Lamma could hold hand with Chairwoman of USA Congress, then this case should be OK, I think.

I agree with you, when we go abroad, just say Lao people go to visit USA, we want to have a photo taken with Farung or the Native Indian for a souvenir, that's normal, same as here.  The lady has her photo taken with the monk for a souvenir to show to her friends and family, if I were to visit Tibet, I would do the same too! Of course you would ask for a permission first, I am sure the girl would ask for a permission to have her photo taken beside the monk, it's really an honour to be able to get close to the monk/s.  It show how friendly they are, it's also a good way to spread the religion.  Words of month is better than a thousand words.  The other important thing, she is European, she is forgiven, she probably doesn't know our Buddhist rules.   For those who don't know.  Buddhism is the fastest growing religion in Australia.  Buddhism is good, non violent and have a lot of benefitial to health and well being, no wonder a lot of Australians are now chosing Buddhism as their religion.

before give an idea why we don't think about
her purpose with  taking the picture?
she is a white people and might not know about
buddish's rule much. she is a tourist, no any wonder
that she will take  photo around.
but for the person who knows the rule well
should tell and explain to her which one is
appropriate action and which one is not.....
