i think about the same for Laos....

if my memory is right the first step on independancy was 1946... but the process was long and there were a few steps before Laos retrieved full independancy.

Why lao do not celebrate independence day? because we still need independent. The biggest official event in the country is Viet-Lao friendship.

Laos won't be celebrating an independence from France anytime soon because Lao goverment don't have the money and they've sent their PM to beg for the money from the foreigner.

I think we should focus more on our country then other people's country especially Cambodia. I think they are doing really well right now despite the financial crisis due to heavy exposure to the U.S. and South Korea. We should focus more on our economic issues first before we have anything like what Cambodia is doing right now. One day we will have our indepedence celebration soon.

I agree with the post above me! It feels like our people are too worried about what cambodia is doing right now. Let them do their thing and we do our thing simple as that! I heard they are doing their water festival celebration right now and it's going to air on Channel CNN. Even I myself will admit that I have hatred towards cambodia by looking at what they are doing right now I can assure that their country will be internationally recognize soon and they will finally have a chance to compete with other countries around the world despite the poverty level of Cambodia every country have to go through that phrase especially when they just had a war like 20 years ago. But I can assure you that once all those projects are finish their will be more middle class people in Cambodia. May god bless Camobodia and the people. From a concern Laos guy! gOOD LUCK!

Why do we have to hate them? Cambodia has done nothing wrong to us. If you don't wanna talk about them, just don't read or post anything about them. It's as simple as that.

If only you could be more open-minded. We are neighbors anyways. It's always good to learn about and know one another better.

I heard that Samakomlao is now very popular in Cambodia.
It is good to see a lot of cambodian come to visit us here and post something about their country.
I hope this website will spread to Vietnam, Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia and other countries soon.
