I thought you got to have a felony before you are eligible for deportation.

I've been following this news for awhile. As far I know, Laos and U.S. never signed an agreement regarding deportation of non-citizens. Although, our neighbors Cambodia and Vietnam do have agreements. I've seen a show on PBS channel about the deportation of 3 cambodian guys.

That was the past but now, the INS has empowered by law to detain you at least six months if they want to. I will post the article of our Lao people who are facing deportation for you later. I have too many incoming calls right now and to type and talk at the same time is not quite easy.
i heard the rumor too. One of my friends has been in states for a while and the rumor said he got deportation but he probable doesn't care, his family loaded back home. if i know something then i will let you guys know.
They should be deported if they broke the laws. Anyway, I don't think Lao government will accept them. Therefore they will have to serve their crimes in jails in the U.S.

as the world get closer, you gonna have to accepted the laws, rules like many other nations. if that person is not US citizen then they donn't wanna wasted tax money to keep them in jail.

The problem is after they finished serving their times in jail, the authority kept their green cards so they can’t find a job. What else can they do besides, moseying around? Many of them regret for not obtaining a citizenship and now it’s too late. Once you are on their deportation list, it is over. Many of our Laotian folks procrastinate in securing applications for American citizens and some were given false information by the own people that it’s better to remain as a legal residents.

Rumor!...just the rumor. Laos government will not negotiate with you if it's a criminal case. But they are working on it i don't know it will be possible.
