New Riverside Restaurants in Vientiane

laos-la-scala.jpg

La Scala is a new Italian restaurant located by the Mekong River. Housed in a communal style mansion, the restaurant is managed by a chef from Yangon’s L’ Opera Restaurant. An extensive Italian wine list accompanies the wide range of Italian specialties, ranging from pasta, pizza, antipasti to other Mediterranean favourites.

Another new addition to Vientiane’s riverfront restaurants is Lao Garden, which is located by the Mekong banks. Situated just outside Vientiane on the way to the border, Lao Garden can accommodate MICE groups and provide diners with opportunities to chill out and enjoy a sunset drink by the riverside. The restaurant features an extensive menu of Lao dishes and ****tails.

The restaurant looks like a house for living, not an eating place.

I felt that the owner of this restaurant was extremely disrespectful.  I suggest that she takes business etiquette lessons (maybe from me!).  This used to be one of the better restaurants in town, but unfortunately, I can never go back again.  The owner may not be the real owner, but her husband (so unfortunate for him) is probably the real owner.  Too bad he was not there.  I felt that she just wanted my money; she would not let me use a VALID coupon for the restaurant that expires in three months.  She was very mean while the rest of the staff was nice.  There is no nice view of anything.  She walked away while I was talking to her!
