pay to read news in Laos
Permalink

I usually have never paid online to read news such as xinhua news. cnn or many media on the internet, but vientianetimes is need to register and pay before reading imporant news in Laos : http://www.vientianetimes.org.la/

what do you think about this and vientianetimes..?

I think many people who surf the net and want to read news related to Landlock land, do you think are they willing to pay just for reading from secret Laos??

Yes, I agree with the Kplnet, the government website that provide readers free news in Lao, french and english, but the news publish on that site are not so interesting excepting the article about the Government's.. however, I am looking forward to see a good quality and full of useful informations on Lao website which is free of charge...

regards..

This medea is a state controled media. They earn money from Lao government already, why they don't want to provide free information to people who want to know about Laos. I also wonder?

Thai medea, for example Bangkokpost and Nation News  are private media, they still provide free reading for all people.

It seems we Lao people doing things are different with other people on earth, isn't it right?

Please take it for consideration if you can.

Regards,
TSP

I've posted this one before. In my opinion, I think it's ridiculous ! What are they trying to do? To make some money? We are in the 21st century now. I believe 99.9% of the news website are free to access and to read all over world wide web.
Vientianetimes officials need to wake up! You need to open up every articles, old or new to all the readers.
How about do it now to commence the celebration of our beautiful city of Vientiane for 500 years anniversary (Am I right?, please correct me if I'm wrong).

but we believe in the practice of protest to affect changes.
in this case, free access to Vientianetimes. LOL

you might say,
"come on guys, just folk out a few bucks and help out."
"dont be so cheap."

then i'd say, well, it might be pennies to you but
it's really about the principle. LOL

The quality of the writing and the news which they covered are not worth the fee they want to charge the subscriber.

I don't want to read news in Vientianetimes.gov website because it isn't worth it to read, let alone to subscribe the website. Why I have to pay to read propadandadized news?

the subscription per year is $100 US Dollars.

there are about seventy-seven thousand (77K) hits for the last 3 months.

most of the recent articles you've seen reposted from other people here are mostly if not all written by writers who have lao names.

the articles are short and superficial, nevertheless, are interesting and refreshing.
at the very least, they keep us entertained. LOL. confuse

By doing this, people will not pay for it and they will not read that.  They (the papers co.) will lose the readers.   The readers will find the free site to read.  I am so disappointed when I know I have to pay to read the news because I like to read, I like to know what's going on.
