If you are a laos abroad and you have gone back to laos for a visit, unfortunately you have ran into some trouble. How is the law in laos going to protect you from being a mistaken of something, like drugs and prostitution as well as political issue? Would you be executed or lock up in jail? Maybe just pay them and get away from it, if you have money?
?you break no law but law comes to you. somtimes the custom officer from the airport comes looking for you. he knows you from the airport.
"please sir, give me $30 for beer and food for my friends?" "since you're my good friend, i help you when you go home, ok?" "your paper work is very good."

Are you sure? Nowonder, I heard everyone came back from visited said the same thing over and over. I think that is not cool.
the style is very subtle. "$1 dollar to take you home, ok?" 10 minutes later....
"sir, you have nice home. you lucky man. ah, $3 please". LOL
other countries will rob you in plain daylight in front of other customers. if you refuse expense receipt, you may pay $25 instead of $100 luggage fee for example. LOL

Hey, who are you, Tigo? You can be sending to jail by saying that, but if you give me $20 and you can get away from it. Do you have that money? I don't think laos people will do that to their own kind that bad, are they? if so what about the rest of people who are current live in laos? how would the rest of people live with that kind of lifestyle? I though laos is better than Thailand and vietnam as well as china. Laos people are very kind to their friends and family, are not they?

living in laos and having friends do provide some privileges. these benefits may include, but not limited to, being charged local prices when going shopping and the airport custom officer doesnt bully you and take your lunch money.
so, yes, having friends does have its privileges. those without privilege (like tinko) can, however, sometimes forge friendship with money. this kind of convenient friendship is short leave but does serve its purpose.
btw, i hope the policeman will find humor in my comment and restrain from putting me in jail. i will pray for his sense of humor. I hope he will laugh and choose to self inflict himself with a short term memory lost after reading this thread.
