Laos: Government is alarmed by too many beer advertisements !!!

The Ministry of Information and Culture in Laos is committed to lower the number of beer advertisements in the country but faces problems to enforce the commitment. This is because there are no transparent laws, regulations or even an agency that can regulate the installation of advertisement signs, according to Sipheng Vongpanya, Director General of Mass Culture Department.

The brewery firms are asked not to install more advertisement signs but they will not be forced to do so. The firms are eager to install more advertisement signs including at bars and restaurants because of increasing competition in the last five years.

banning not going to stop people from drinking. the problem is, as parent or adult should tell your kids and enforce people who sell them. for advertise alcohol or tobaco should not be publicly  advertise. I saw advertise at that laung. Temple and alcohol does not related. I think Laos it over use that lalaung stupa. in america they don,t allow advertise on billboard only on tv during primtime tv and sport even. if they advertise they only hold the beer never drink them. I think Lao need to be more social respondsibility.

if it is getting out of control thre should be regulations.

so this is good and bad, but if i had to choose i thnk there should be regulations.

BeerLao is one of the most powerful enterprise in Laos, Beerlao supports many activities, sports and many events in Laos, Beerlao Tshirt is one of the most attractive and fabulous in the Morning Market and many of tourism wear the beerlao Tshirt around the world. Beerlao already flowed  into the blood of Lao people, We just love beerlao, No tiger, No anything else. how to publish the advertising in an appropriate way? the gov can't prohibit the advertising of beerlao for sure, but the government can control the advertising in Public places, especially advertising on Tv, the Beerlao should be alllowed to broadcast on Tv after 10 pm, is it a good idea?

Don't worry about Yaba or other drugs or other countries. We are talking about Beer and about Laos PDR.

Its a bit ironic, considering the largest beer company in Laos, and perhaps the largest company in general, is the LBC, which is partly owned by the government!
