Can anyone tell me the dates for when the games start and finish please, as I wish to go to Laos and see them.

According to news published in Vientiane Times, the Games will run from December 9-18, 2009, with the opening ceremony to take place on December 13, the Vientiane Times said.

It is very weird to have the opening ceremonies in the middle of the SEA Games and when will be the date for closing ceremonies? Why don't they move the competition dates from December 9 to December 13  to coincide with Kaisone's birthday?
