A group from Wausau is expected to join people from across the state in support of Gen. Vang Pao

06 May 2009,

Thousands of Hmong-Americans are expected to rally in Milwaukee on Friday to call for the dismissal of all charges against Gen. Vang Pao.

Organizers say a group from Wausau will join the protesters, who believe that Pao has been wrongly accused by the United States government.

Pao was one of nine Hmong leaders arrested in California in 2007 as part of a federal investigation into a plot to overthrow the Laotian communist government.

The rally will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Federal Building, 517 E. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee.

Kor Xiong of Appleton, the chairman of the Hmong Ad Hoc Committee of Wisconsin said he buses full of Pao supporters from across the state plan to attend the rally.

Pao led CIA-backed Hmong fighters against communist forces in Laos in the 1960s and 1970s. Once in the United States, he became a social and cultural leader, still revered by many Hmong, especially those old enough to have lived in Laos and fled the communists.

He was the best and the "true" Commander of Military Regions in Laos.

I know, because I served under his command during that time.

i hope he get sum punishment like thrown in jail or something because that way this will send a clear message that he war is finally overr. jeezes ppl like him need to stop dreaming. laos belongs to lao.

and i bet theres far more complicated things involved besides him being one of the many generals of laos. ( CIA) related stuff for instance, dont even think laos was united before teh war happend there were at least 3 different fractions fighting for ppower and pao and his cia connections had their own agenda besides helping their country men out.

Use your common sense , Guilty as charge..... I love to see Laos to be free country also but not in the way General  Vang Pao . That is up to the people who live in Laos to decise . We are outside and no longer Lao citizen any more , we are American now. So we care but not in the violent way.

if it was Movie, VANGPAO would act like a hero who helped CIA and led the hmong fough againt the Lao and viet during the Secret war in Laos, Hmong people still respect him as the leader, but as for Lao new generation , He is " PA TI KAN".
