Laos used to be ranked in the first place of top places to visit in 2008, but was threw out from this list this year.

The total 44 places to visit recommended by NY Times this year is as follow:

I LOVE TO GO TO LAOS BUT!!!! EVERY THING ARE COST TO HIGHT. FOOD, HOTEL,TRAVEL EXSPEND.........
SAMPLES: GO TO THAILAND NO VISA COSTED, EVERY PLACES YOU GO THEY CHARGED YOU THE SAME AS THAI PEOPLES, SPECIALLY HOTEL ARE CHEAPPEST....... SORRY TO SAY THAT!

THAT'S WHY ???JUMP FROM RANK # 1 TO ?????? IT IS VERY SAD FOR ME disbelief

it is a bit surprised that Laos is not on the list, Mabye only 44 places or maybe economic crisis , poor tourism don't have enought money to travel.

RE: From 44 to No name on the list, Feel Bad not at all . And I'm not surprised the way The New York Tmes Did their proceesed their Travel Magazines. Each year  Number#1 May drop to Number#50, And Number50 may jump to Number#5 But that's way the Travel  Agent, a Magazine, Books, or any Promotion do their Business.

Only Thailand and Malaysia are in the list this year

Maybe our country no land to connect with the ocean..no beautiful beach..no luxury place for luxury tourist.

Lao only have backpackers tourists but no luxury tourists come. Things we have here but same as some part of Thailand so that's why? maybe?
