Most of them are Hmong  , very few Lao . You have to remember there are about 60,000 Hmongs are living in the California.  90% of Lao special young generation , they disagree with the violent way that general Vang Pao did. I am  here  not to defense  Lao nork . I also don't know about the truth and the charges are , and what kind of the evidences the  US district attorney have against the general Vang Pao. All I know the Hmong , they are really stick together unlike the Lao people. I only hope and wish that one day we could be like the Hmong no matter what. For me even I don't like the communist party ruling the Laos and corrupted , I still don"t want to see any violent or war in Laos.  Only want to help the poor Lao children.

According to Richard S Ehrlich article in ASIA TIMES published on the 14/06/2005 Vang Pao was A DESPOTIC WARLORD, he is a CROOK or Bad warlord, so the people or hmong in USA supported him are also crook they have their own interest to doing that. Why do you think lao people are not united? I bet you try let say, send people to go to LAOS and try to create problem for LAOS and see what will happen. Did you know a South Vietnamese guy named Hoang Co Minh led a group of people well armed well documents and dressed up like the Vietnamese soldiers with fake id and documents, crossing from Thailand heading for Vietnam to set up base there when he was in Savannakhet province, his troops and him were surrounded after big fighting in the jungle he was dead. You think Lao Army is weak and not united then think again.

the blind fallowing the blind thats all i have to see, deep down to they really believe that they are the ones telling the truth. every one knows the hmongs secrete agenda for years, they have always wanted to overthrow the government of laos, or at least claim land of their own.

i really hope he gets what he diserves once and for all to end this belief or dream or hope or wut ever u call it of them going back to laos and trying to take some land and call their own. truth is laos was never their country it was land and lao ppl let them live with us. so eitehr way you look at it you can u justify their cause, i know there are many inocent ppl that are getting hurt/ killed because of this never ending cycle of who/what/where/when. this jus needs to stop and the only way i see that happening is the end of vangpao.

the only people supporting this rally is their own ppl so what does that tell you no one else believes his inocent accept for themselfs who are blindly fallowing.

any ways long live a united laos

that jus sounds stupid to me. that doesnt even make sense in the end you always find them contradicting what they are saying.

then why did he fight in the war in the first place then???

jeezes see why no one believes them.

those people who support Vangpao dont know anything about Laos, just been heard what Vangpao told them and follow. that is very stupid ways of following without knowing the truth how Lao government treath Lao people over the country. And please understand and read the law of Laos that Muong people are Lao. Our land is not seperated. We have shared the same land and we are Lao. Only the words from Vangpao are trying to descriminate Lao people and Muong. In fact Muong is Lao. I have many Muong friends in Laos and study in the same university. Some muong become leaders in the country as you know including priministers, head of organisations and so on.

From the above viewpoint, i dont see how we are different. Even I am Lao you are Muong but we are Lao nationality.

In fact, it is Vangpao who has been killing Lao people and Muong, please learn about history in the past. Vangpao is the dog of American who brought the bomb to kill lao people in the north and many Muong people have to suffer until now.

if the bus was shot on the road 13th, people would say " shooting by the Patikan Vangpao"? I was born in the new generation (after Lao PDR was found in 1975), all the information related to vangpao is bad, he was a bad guy and rebel during the War, but as far as Hmong people concerned, He has done many good thing for his people that anyone here might not know. if you read a book about him which has written by american, the author would write and describe him as a hero and brave.
as for the Lao history text book, he is a rebel and betrayed his own country and people, it s called " PATIKAN"

For khonthakek then read the book The Politics of Heroin by Alfred McCoy's and you will learn more about Vang Pao, why not it's going open your mind..... and american who praised Vang Pao because they saw him as a good servant, served the CIA and american policy towards LAOS at that time, I am not surprised for that.

My Lao fellows.  In June, 2007.  It was coming close that Vang Pao and his 10 gangs would make that (overthrow Laos) happen if not because of US ATF authorities stopped them first.   We owe US Gov. for this.   Hmongs in America think they are not a part of Laos.  They want some country to run, so they pick our country.   So please never ever ever let that happen.   It is time for all of us : Lao ny, Lao noek, Lao everywhere stick together, regardless where we are.   Otherwise ,  someone will take Laos and our country's name will disappear from the world's map.     United we stand, Divided we fall!!!!

Now , American Government  had considered Vang Pao and his gang groups as terrorist group and American did not consider and recognize him and his group as supporter any more, Lao Government and American had closely cooperate in fighting with terrorist in any where in the world and Laos had assisted  USA  to find the place and bring back home the MIA remaining in Laos . the supporter Vang pao are only his relative and family because he had married more than 100 wifes, he is poligamy man.

when i listened to the video clip. what the girl said make me very disgusting  "if take one of us  you take all of us" come on girl, i don't think that people who lives in US  which the higest educational system country still think like this, even uneducated people in lao they did not say like this for long time

anyway  the  US court definitly will  not dismiss   the case .
____

please read...

No Dismissal in General Vang Pao's Case
General Pao and 10 other men are accused of plotting to overthrow the government of Laos. Defense attorneys argued o get those criminal charges dismissed.

Defense attorneys failed at getting this case thrown out. The judge said he simply did not have enough facts to make a ruling. While many Hmong people showed disappointment ... Their enthusiasm forGeneral Vang Pao overshadowed Monday's court room defeat.

"Free Vang Pao. Free Vang Pao."

Hmong people chanted hours before their leader arrived. Thousands came from all over the country to wait for General Vang Pao.

Kelli Vang said, "He's a hero because he brought all these Hmong people to America. He supported us and we wouldn't here if it wasn't for him."

By midday police estimated more than five thousand people gathered outside of the courthouse.

Supporters wear white to show there solidarity. Pahoua Vang from Fresno explained ... Their white shirts have a deep meaning. She said, "The white is just to represent we want justice and peace."

Inside the court house ... The defense attorneys called the prosecution's case a shocking violation of the defendants' right. But the U.S. Attorney argued ... They have enough evidence to show the general and 10 men conspired to overthrow Loa's government. The judge declined to dismiss the case.

Defense Attorney Mark Reichel said, "What was undisputed today is that an extremely, extremely vulnerable segment of this word, the Hmong people were preyed upon by law enforcement. General Waived to Crowd."

The general waved to the crowd after the hearing. His appearance moved some in the crowd to tears.

Mary Vang said, "He's my Hmong National leader that brought all of us to the United States. I want him to be free and everyone have peace and freedom."

A spokesperson said the general is suffering from a sore throat and was unable to address the crowd.

The general and his codefendants are scheduled to return to court October fifth. A defense attorney said they will try again to get this case dismissed.

I am Laotian. I love Hmong who plays clean.  But Vangpao is killer. Anyway, their supporters are there to support him because he hmong but not for what he had done to Laos country. That's scary.

Why Vangpao helped only Hmongs to come to U.S.A? What happen to Loas people? Why he left them die alone? Of course, you thank Vangpao because he helped your husband to go around U.S.A laws so your belover one can bring all Hmong girls from Laos to live in same room  as sisters or cousins. But actually, they're not sister. They're wives. Vangpao promoted his people to become polygamist.  Girl, you know better.  Stop support a man who wanted to destroy Laos and broke U.S.A. law as polygamist.

Well, I agree that we should stick together.  But saying that Vang Pao and his gang about to overthrow Laos if not for the American stopping them first?  I don't think so.   I don't think they will ever overthrow Laos in this life time, even if they try, and try and try.    You know what would happen if Vang Pao tries?  The Laos government with their Vietnamese friends would clear out all the Hmong from all the mountains.

I believe that the Hmong people will not take any one country. The Hmong people just want to live in peace.  They do not want to govern any country as their own, esp. Laos.  Laos is a beautiful country and Laotians are really nice people. However, you shouldn't say that Hmong people are bad.  There are some good and bad people in everyone own's country... There are good people who do good things and bad people who cares for themselves... There are not perfect people in this world. So you shouldn't judge the Hmong people and say they are bad... and they are the bad people... There are times when Vang Pao did some mistakes but it is not like everyone doesn't... I am sure that every country's president or king or whaterver makes lots of mistakes itself... So you shouldn't judge a person by the cover... Go Vang Pao.... We support you...

P.S.
Get your facts straight...  :D

During CIA war Vangpao killed many innocent Laos people. He also brought evil Viet. to destroy Laos. One of my uncle was executed because of Vangpao because his selfish. When Laos people escaped to Thailand. Thai people robbed Loas in the middle of mekong and some girls were sold for prositution because of Vangpao's job. When U.S.A.government brought Vangpao and his people to come here(usa), Vangpao never mentioned even a word to American see if Laos people can come along.  He doesn't care about Laos people. The more Laos people die the more he'shappy. I wonder while U.S.A bombed Laos had he ever stopped them. I doubt it.  We gave are beautiful land for them to live in peace so they can sell opium to China and Chinese government can give to England, and we are also very  friendly to all hmongs.  This is what we got from Mr. Vangpao. Beside, I never see or hear Vangpao made an attempt to reunite Laos and Hmong to become one as family. All I heard was Laos stupid and Laos no good.  Don't marry them. Hey, my friend you said without Vangpao, Hmong won't be here. I don't think so. You should thank you to evil Vietn. Without them and USA,Hmong won't be here.  And you should thank Viet for helping you killing innocent Laos and your relative.

A guilty verdict will be reached soon and American Constitution will prevail. If you beleive his innocent, stay calm. Now, you guys showed to the whole world that he's cult not a leader. Beside, kids under age shouldn't be there either. They too young to know about my people only or Hmong only. Wow! From now on, American government have to  keep eyes on this movement group. It's look very serious, ten thousand supporters even they know deep down in their heart,Vangpao might find guilty for wrong doing. They still go over there to support him.

Vang pao and his supportes are procuct of CIA's policy which they tryied  to killing Lao people and Lao Hmong  people. now all Lao ethnic groups are united to build the country, protect and  promote   equal rights of Lao people including Lao Hmong peope. but according to my record and my view that Vang Pao and American Administrative are war Crime and terorist and you can see the following is aroster of the countries that USA has bombed from end of WWII through present time, namely: China-1945-46,1950-53, Korea 1950-53,Guatemala 54,67-69, Indonesia 1958, Cuba 1959-60,Congo 1964, Vietnam 1961-73,Laos 1964-73,Cambodia 1969-70,grenada 1983, Libya 1986,Elsalvador 1980,Panama 1989,Iraq 1991-99 continuing until now, Yogoslavia 1991-92 and Afganistan from 1998 until present time. Vang Pao had cooperate with USA to destyied  Lao land then escaped to live in America with his 100 wifes and his chidren and his relative. Lao Hmong people living in Laos are good, well educated people and live side by side with other Lao ethnic groups, we live together to protect our culture our country and develop thecountry in according to the will and hope of the Lao people.

You see! CIA thought they got good helper from Vangpao to help them stop Viet. to spread communist power over Asia. But they were wrong Vangpao was helping USA to stop Viet because he was scare to lose power as self-government  or autonomy when French granted to him for stealing tax from Loas government to them. Anyway, it's good to hear that Laos Hmong and Laos nia get along. Good news.

Because French government begged usa not to go farther like world war II. At that time Viet. didn't  have nuclear bomb.

American people is good and kind people only the American foreign policy and the CIA that make some countries hate America. Vietnam War is not American war that is between the Vietnamese  people, the American people did not  approve that war so when the American people saw what the American pilots bombed the Vietnamese villages and Laos and saw a lot of innoceny men and women and children on the TV news. So the American just didn't take it any more.  So the American people demonstrated  and protested to the goverment to stop helping the south Vietnam. No body could defeat America , only the American people themselve defeat Amerca . Think if you want to declare war on the Amercan people for example (Pearl harbor and  september 11 ,2001 ) the Tilaban and the Al Qaida , I bet  that the American people will hunt  you down every where on this plannet. That is the reason why the American US drisrict attorney did not dismiss the general Vang Pao case. Thank God, that ATF stop general Vang Pao befoere he did some damages to Laos. His charges against him as bad as Al Qaida ( terrorist ) that he plan to bomb in Laos and murder a lot of hight ranging goverment officers and blow up goverment building, dam  bridges, raods, destroy the communication and the airport...etc.. Some Hmongs called  Vang Pao hero to Lao-American people and Lao people around the world , he is  nothing but the drug dealer , murdereer and torrorist. Laos was neutral country , he dragged laos to go to war against North Vietnam and let the American bombed Laos. The wound is not heal yet and now he plans to do more.  Even I am not happy with the comminist party corrupted and run the country such as drugs problems, chop down the trees and building dam that flood a lot of land and destroy a lot of farm land and trees and the human been right and so on. I still don't want to see  any blood and war in Laos.

It seems like you have done an excellent home work.  You can count on my vote for next PM.  What's your name? Hope one day we'll meet each other by face to face. I really like you.

Some people think american is good, commusits are bad....but before we can make any conclusion we need to do a lot of researches. To be able to understand clearly about wars and conflicts there are many history books, documents we can read and watch to see things as it happened. There are some of them they are on DVD on sale in any DVD shops, ' Vietnam 10 thousand days, Combodia to Kampuchia, American foreign policy...etc these documents have parts about Laos history...and conflicts, they tell as it happened, so you see views from all sides not just one side.
As I say many people think USA  is good but many people do think USA is bad, like middle east countries, and people as I heard from their mouth they believe USA is evil, and think Russia is good...so depend on point of views.

I am not sure about if Vang Pao came back to LAOS with his followers able to do much to LAOS or Lao's government, anybody here remember the Wang Tao or Xong Mek border incident, when a group of Lao men supported by Thai army along the border with Laos, at that time, this group attacked and took the Lao Police frontier Post at Xong Mek....at that time Thai military also had in mind ' to attack Laos' because Thai army had, tanks and troops along the border at Wang Tao, what happened on the Laos side, Lao's Army set up Missiles batteries in Pakse and target Ubon Radjathani....well if you lived in Pakse at that time you could see those Missiles when you passed Pakse Airport...that where they stationed, as well as Lao's Army started to mobilize Tanks and Big Guns to the border with Thailand....at the end all the Lao men who came back through Thailand to create this incident were shot dead by Lao soldiers...did you know what Lao Army said at that time if the Thai supported those men and attacked LAOS the missiles from Pakse will reach Ubon Radjathani...So do you think if Wang Pao came back for those plans Lao's government does not know...and let Wang Pao to over throw them...well to tell the truth Wang Pao will face the same thing, even Vang Pao could put bombs here and there and destroy few things but at the end he will be excuted by Laos side. You know what the Thai Media reported about Xong Mek incident they said Lao's army made that incident like in the movies.
Some of Lao men who regarded themselve as KOO SAT survived and escaped to Thailand.

My personal take on former General Vang Pao.

With all due respect to him, his supporters, and to those with strong animosity against him, but I am still convinced that the man was once highly appreciated by millions of Laotians during his relentless struggle against communism especially his valiant combat against Vietnam and it was endorsed by the former government.  Not all Laotians worshiped Communist Viet Gook (Keo) at the time besides Lao Isara (?) and its unwillingness to oppose the invasion of Laos by Vietnam only proved its incompetent army.  It would be just a foolish pride to deny that.  No doubt most of its equipments were also in a deplorable state and without the Viets, there wouldn’t be Lao PDR today. Of course, we should not expect the newer generation of Laotians to relatively think as the older ones. But we just can’t change our history. Only 3 million Laotians with its national strength of 55,000 combat soldiers (?) it was impossible to repel the repetitive illegal incursions by those Viet Gooks whose numbers were in millions and U.S was the only hope to slow down their advances by means of air power. When there’s a war, there would be collateral sacrifices from both sides. It was unfortunate that so many lives were lost. And regrettably, after 30 years of failed attempts by the winning side, this great Kingdom of Lan Xang once again succumbed to the invading force. Was it Karma? It’s up to you Laotians to make that judgment.

The good thing though, there was no comparison of oppression to Vietnam when Laos initially converted to communism. Viets on the other hand, ferociously suppressed its people, random torture, imprisonment due to false allegations of anti-revolution or anti-state policy occurred almost daily and thousands of its people were compelled to flee their beloved country, many were just crying in despair. But this was Southeast Asia.  In a not too distant proximity, Afghanistan—1979, was invaded by the Red Soviet Army. To the turban-wearing Islamic Afghans whose religious fanaticism has never been questionable, the occupation by atheist commie was more than just defilement to their opium land and their culture. Backed by CIA, they successfully evicted the Soviets after 10 years of brutal engagement. It was the total opposite in value between atheist communists and the fundamentalist extremist Muslim.

Vang Pao, even though, was a general but it was already history, and according to his current status, he is just an ordinary citizen of the United States. He should let go of the past. The supposed-premeditated plan to bomb Laotian Presidential Palace would be interpreted as an intended act of terrorism under American Law during a peace time and especially by a private citizen. This is his own desire for seeking personal vengeance; therefore, he will be prosecuted. If there is a mercy from the court of law, he might get years of house arrest given the fact that he had established himself within his own community over a period of time and for thousands of letters of recommendation, I wouldn’t be surprised for any prospect of leniency. But the law usually only allows a maximum of one year sentence to qualify for (Electronic Monitoring Ankle Bracelet) and in the case of Vang Pao, the judge may give him years in state or federal prison. Therefore, the chance of serving time in the house is pretty unlikely.

Lao PDR has been widely accepted by many countries included the United States ever since it liberated itself from the oppressive communist regime to a more liberal nation. Why not give it a chance to mature and no need to destroy the peace.  After all, they are also Laotian.

Vang Pao was named 'a despotic warlord' in Alfred McCoy's respected book ' The Politics of Heroin in Southeast Asia'. (Asia Times ) 6/14/2005.

BLM, I read a lot of your posts and I can tell you are a very educated guy.  I like what you had to say.  Very thoughtful.  We need more people like you.  But I just want to say that you might want to keep it simple.  I see that you used a lot of big words, and I'm just looking out for others here that know only basic English; especially the Lao Nork and some OGs here. biggrin You could tell by reading a lot of the posts here.   Alright bro keep it going with the posts.

Thank you brother LaoSeaTown for your interest in reading my posts. I am sorry for using big words as you claimed but are you sure it is that complicated? I just typed whatever words came through my mind. Nonetheless, that’s how we learn right? So please bear with me. I also like to reply to the guy above who said “Vang Pao was named 'a despotic warlord' in Alfred McCoy's respected book ' The Politics of Heroin in Southeast Asia'. (Asia Times ) 6/14/2005.” Not that I disagree with him though--smilev.gif

I wouldn’t doubt the validity of that story though I never read it and I don’t have time for it, but it won’t change the fact that he did valiantly fight the invading enemies of Laos for 30 years (?) and if we were old enough at the time, we might as well fought alongside our compatriots either by conscription or by choice.  What side were you on? That would be based upon your own fundamental causality or needs. Right or wrong is only a matter of self-justification. But Vang Pao miserably failed to let go the past and now he has to deal with the consequences. As I said earlier, I personally think it was his quest for personal vengeance and certainly it would not benefit anyone. But I refused to mock all his supporters with derogatory term. By the same token, I would not compensate him with admiration. Hell, I don’t think I can’t even work with him because of our divergent opinion. My policy would completely be running parallel in comparison. I would rather seek to work with Laotian governments by means of engagement not a quest for revenge.

There are 16 provinces in Laos and my initial interest would begin with provincial level so that I know which one is in an urgent need for assistance.  After I gather all the data, I would come up with my own recommendation. I would also like to talk with the attorney general of Laos so that I have some sense of their jurisdiction and I would ask them to submit to me their national accounting records as well as the details of their FISCAL policy. It would give me an idea of the government spending and revenue and how they balance their budget annually. What are the commodities that subject to excise taxes and how much tariffs foreign companies pay including foreign donations and what percentage go into its citizens? Etch, this is just an essential expression of mine so please don’t take it serious. It is just for fun to discuss. I am fully aware of many smart people in our motherland. I wish I had more time so I could go on further, but I have to leave at this for now.

My uncle was a former major U.S. army. He was deployed to Irag for many years.  If he committed a brutal crime,do you think the  governor of CA will give him an amnesty or president Obama will consider sign a condolence letter to absolve him of guilty because he was a army officer like general Vangpao?

I read many comments here, I found out there are same group of people saying the same thing all the time, according to their name, and praised each other as well, they always say bad thing about Lao and Lao's government, they said that not many people worship communists...etc But we can ask why if there is any who believe in communism then why Lao is a communist state, these people only say thing just one side unlike I watch document from USA, England (BBC) and European countries as well, they are available in DVD shop...these documents always shows the story on both side, the communists side and the american side. If USA wanted to stop communism one and for all, I believe they should go for war with Soviet Union and China in the past, that's where they could take the root of communism forever.....one person here stated that USA can take anyone country, can own anyone country, can defeat anyone they like, and nobody can defeat USA then why USA did not do that in the past, why fought in small country like Lao. If Soviet Union and China destroyed by USA there is no big communists for small country to follow anymore. Perhaps those big communists countries have nuclear bombs.biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Well, I am not a terrorist expert and  I could not predict what  general Vang Pao capacable to do , according to his record from the pass that Vang Pao is a cool blood killer and a lot of men got kill and be killed by him , also he is an opium and heroin dealer as well. If the man could do such a thing like that to the other human been so I am glad that I was arrested and charged for his crime and per-half he might spend the rest of his life in prison where he belongs. It does not matter that how much general Vang Pao could be able to do some damages  or not if some damages have done or even one life have been lost that is too many . Suppose his deadly mission had been carried out and destroy the dams and the bridges and the airport and airplanes  some things have been damages and some body die that what i don't want to see that it happen in Laos. He might not success and fail and also at last got himself kill at last. Then you have to look at the thing that we could prevent before it happen. We don't need these probems now. Once more thing about what you mention about Thai -Lao conflict that is very danger for both nations in every way and the economy . Please, to understand Laos is need to help from all our neighbors to survive and balance the power other we will be absobe by Vietnam or China and  and also Thailand .we don't want to be taken over by any of  them . I mean economy and politic . My concert and regardless of what so ever I love to see Laos to be itself without dominate by the other country and never and ever again to have the blood chat and war in Laos never  ever again.

Just so you know that military has its own court system; any service man or woman who violates the military code of conduct are subject to court martial. This also applies to individuals who are no longer active in military units. As a result, State Governors do not have a judicial power to grant your uncle clemency only the president can do that.  Had your uncle really participated in a crime against humanity, he would definitely be court-martialed. I assume your uncle is innocent otherwise; he’d better contact a military attorney who specializes in military court. Good luck with your uncle and my best wish for him.
