Now the government allow local people in the country to formulate NGO. Please take this opportunity to set up local NGO to fight with that problem in each village. I hope that there will be many supporters but it needs a lot of work from everyone who want our country, our people to have better lives.

Nothing  that we could do when the police themselve are corrupted . They have guns and they will kill you . Sad but it is the truth. If these are going on the young Lao chidren who suppose to be the future of the country and become the drug addict  all over towns and cities and may be whole country. My question are before one step farther, 1. how would you enforce the law of the corrupted police from the top down. When you are able to do that ,then the drug trafficing  stop and then educate the young kids.

Well said, the village security (konglorn ) catch the drug smugglers put them in jail, the next two or three day the police released them : no enough evidence... that disappointed all villagers who hated drugs, they fear for their children and if the situation continue like that, nobody will believe us...and all the assistances against drugs from foreign contries will be cancelled.
regards.

NGO can't do anything but pass out pamphlet in this situation.

They need security force. Maybe police or soldiers to enforce the law.

The drug problem is quite bad, not only in urban areas, but even in villages that are far from the nearest road. Parents try to stop their kids, but it's really hard when so many kids in the village are doing drugs, & the naibaan can't do much cos there's no police unless you walk 2 days from the village to the 'Muang' of the district.

The corrupt police benefit from the drug trade...pushers sell drugs to addicts, after that they report the addicts to the police, the police earn $$$ from the fine & let them go...so that they can buy again from the drug pushers, get caught again, & pay fine again...(repeat X infinity).

These local people speak very truth. At least they know the situation very well and probably better than many Lao officials.

How can I forward this topic to drug control department in Vientiane? I want them to see and listen to the voice from local Lao people.

Poor people in the country side..they are very poor and no educated so only growing rice you think it enough for them? Some is enough but some are not. Growing drugs, producing drungs or selling drugs might be easier way to make money.

As long as our government do not do something to make jobs for poor people..so it will be never solve these problem. Anyway,...Everywhere have drugs problem whether in America, Europe or even in Taipei, Hongkong or Thailand

Many of foreigners come to Lao just to try some marihuana or opium and some of the resorts or guesthouses in Lao also provided these things to tourist with cheapest price

As I said that is not new . It is time to face the fact and try to solve the problem instead of cover it up and denie  the problem by just close your eyes and turn your face away and pretend that it will go awy by itself. That is not going to solve the problem. The truth is , Laos need help from foreign countries specially money to educate the children  about the drug and also rehab program and hospital as well. So stop covering it up , the whole world know that Laos has the drug problem. First step must start get rid of the corrupted police. May be need to have special unit just specally expert on drug.

The typical Lao reply - 'need help from foreign countries' ;)
Think the Lao government would have enough money for this, if they could recover all the public money lost to corruption.

And what is the best way to solve this problem

Warm family is the most important to fight agiant the drug, Parent must spend more time with their children and educate them more about the dangerious of drug and having sex in small aged. when the kid has enought warm and care, the kid woudn't make a trouble in soceity and school such as flighting and taking drug or become a drug dealer.as for the remote area, Education is the most important tool to resovle the drug problem, the village must take a measure to fight agianst the drug and other social problem. the drug problem is a headach problem around the world, Drug problem is even worse in developing countries, I think being a poor country has more chance to Win agianst the Drug.

Good idea but that is not enough when the drug pusher are every where and the police corrupted and benefit from the drug dealers. Cover up  , denie and lie thrugh their teeth.
