Laos would like to ask you like John F Kennedy did 5 decades ago. What can you do for your country?  Instead of criticize and complain.  So would you like to help Laos Kids and build the schools in Laos. I know 10 dollars is not very much money for the Lao people who are living in the US and Canada. You go to the movie or the Mc Danold it might cost more than 10 dollars. So would you like to donate  10 dollars for month for a years to help poor kids and building school and buy the computers to young students in Laos?  According to what I know, there are over 300,000 Lao people are living in the United States and Canada. If 300,000 Lao people donate 10 dollars per month that will be 120 dollars per person and will be . 300,000 x 120 dollars equal
36,000,000. dollars per years . So would you will to do it  ? and garanteen every dime will go to those kids and building school.  Any suggession. No corruption. We will do the same way ,the Jew help the Israel  and the Christian church  help the poor. Is it a good idea or not or you just want to criticize and doing nothing. I think it is about time for all Lao to be united no matter what and regardless of what  you disagree with the goverment.  Stop getting mad to  the painful history that Siam had done to Laos , we forgive them but we will not forget and we will be better than Them if we are united.

I know 10 dollars is not much money for the people who live in the US and Canada and cost more to to eat in the restaurant. So we should  raise the money like this for 10 years  like the Jew do to help the Israel .  For a good cause I will ..

Don't worry this donate will go from you and I to the kids that we will ask the lao goevrnment so we could do it ourself and every dime will be report directly to you and every body on the web.  For now I just want to know how many support that I have. We must do with heart and willing to see the different and the result. If the Jew could do to Israel and the Christian Church could do it we could do it. Just show the world that we are united. Don't worry about corruption . I believe that could be fix in time. I would like you to ask your friends and neighbor and every body who know to help and get involve for our motherland. When we get the number that we need  then we are going to take action. Thank you  for caring.

I also believe if laos go to war with Thailand even Lao nork are not happy with the Lao goverment today most of Lao nork will help Laos.

This is great idea for mother land. 5 years I had the experiences worked in many remote areas (no road only by foot to access the villages) of northern of the country from Xayyabouly, Loungprabang, Oudomxay and Louangnamtha there are many places still need more helping especialy about education, the Lao gov. and other external support agencies are also doing hardwork to educate those people in remote areas but as you known about 75 to 80% of population stay there. If this idea could be as practice it will be geat as mention.

Thank you for your support , we are going to need a lot of help. I haven't even start yet this is only the idea. I would like to know how many people are interested and care then I will start a none profit organization and raise money. So we must to do every thing legally by law. I post this poctic yesterday and a little bit dispointed only a few people replied. May be the Lao in the US and Canada  don't look at this web sit. So I have to find the way to reach them.

Any suggession , good idea . volunteers and any advise are welcome . Our gaol is to help the young laos kids in the cities and the country side and remote area to build schools . Also I believe today it is very important for lao students and kids to know what is going in the country but also around the world as well. So the comtuers are the key that the new young Lao generation will know about the outside world and get the knowledge and catch up with the world. So I believe every elementary and high schools in Laos must have computers for every students. So they could commute with their foreign friends from outside world  exchange the idea and friendship .

It's a great idea to raise fund for the poor kids in remote area of laos but you need someone or several people to take care of the fund, and it is not an easy job to manage the payment of projects you need to implement. and the people working in your projects need to be paid too, or you might hand over the fund to the UNDP to do the job for you but in this case, you should have an auditor to control all expenses from time to time to make sure that the money was spent appropriately.
Regards.

Im so glad to have read something that is logical and meaningful. WHoever you are who have started this idea... congratulations for speaking your mind and for initiating. No one else can help Lao in need but the Lao themselves. Putting up a foundation is not that easy, you may encounter many difficulties at first and you may need to deal with some government officials who may want to take advantage of the foundation you are trying to establish for his personal benefit. JUST BE VERY SMART when you deal with this kind of persons. Use your mind, common sense and logic so you will not get into the trap.  It takes a lot of planning, strategizing and effort ant time to materialize your very wonderful idea. What you should do first is to know the requirements for putting up such and organization in your country, how much is the cost of its legalization (yes, it would involve money at the beggining, too). Then, who and which government organization are you going to deal with (just in case) and what is their reputation so you can prepare yourself to deal with them (crook or not). Next, you need to get really GOOD LAO PEOPLE to back you up or work with you. People who will have the same dedication and vision as yours,... you need to know them well to make sure they are not going to take advantage or corrupt the donations.

Then, you need to develop a system of transparency so more and more people will trust you once they see that the money they are donating indeed go to the right beneficiary for a right project (example schools).

Do not expect many people to respond at once to your call. many are willing to help they are just being cautious or hesitant (knowing how rampant corruption is in Laos). Its ok to begin with small number of people who truly support so you will also learn from the experience and once more donation started to pour in you are better prepared to handle them well. YOu may start with small sum of money to put up the foundation. dont expect you can alreadyput up a school or buy many computers with the first batch of donation unless somebody really donate a huge sum for you to do that.  Most likely you will be able to start real projects on the 2nd or 3rd batch of donations.

Also at first do not start with a very big project that you can not handle. start with some small ones like buying text books for the whole class of an existing school in a very remote area or renovating dilapidated schools so children will have a better environment nad improve willingness to study.

Dont rush... take your time. projects like this dont happen overnight. You need to think clearly and plan well. It also requires a lot of time and follow up to those people who are willing to help. this will consume much of yourtime so you will need other people (volunteers with a good heart) to help you start and move forward.

Every small success counts so fo it one step at a time! If  after some time this proves to be a success you may expect not only Lao people donating, volunteering or helping you. Other people from other countries will be encouraged to donate as long as your foundation will prove that money goes to those who are in real need.

And dont worry about reaching Lao in other countries who are not visiting this web site now. dont waste your time tracking them, start with the ones who are already offered they support here. Soon other Lao will learn about this through word of mouth and Im sure they too will start to support.

Success breeds success! For the meantime if you are really serious about this then make it happen. Those who already pledge support are most likely counting on you.

Im not Lao but I will definitely support. Ive seen how life is in your rural communities and I just want to help. I have lots of Lao friends so for their sake I will.. If Lao believe in theirselves they dan do better and live better lives. education is the key.

Another caution... computer is only a method of learning but not the end of the means. Computer can also create negative impact because it can also open doors for the Lao youth to get exposed to violence, sex and crimes. if you are putting up computers in school, make sure they are capable of filtering such rubbish website so that those computers will not become a "weapon of self-destruction or immorality." Make sure it will be used to promote the good values of Lao not the other way around.

Lastly, work on with every will power, logic and self control that you have so that you will not get tempted once donation started to pour in... so that you will not end up being corrupt yourself... something that modern Lao despised.

Cheers to Lao! Stand proud!

At present im not in Lao, maybe I will have a chance to come back later this year if not next year. Later I will share with you through this forum some ideas and experiences I had in bringing education to the unreached population. Not now because i have limited access to the internet in my current location.

But to start, from an outsiders point of view, its good to see how Loa will unite to help Lao.Someone like me would rather support by sharing experiences, hoping that  you might  get some ideas to  materialize yours. It would be good to see that Lao can do something for Lao without monetary help from non-Lao. Since many Lao always question until when your country will be dependent on foreign aid, your idea might start a wave of self reliance among Laotians. Seeing Lao stand by itself, even if in small ways (at first) is a very good sign and hopefully it could influence other Lao to start thinking the same. Its a paradigm shift and you should be proud on starting this. I hope many members of this forum will support you.

Good luck!

Could you please open up a new topic about your plan to put up a project or foundation that aims to educate Lao kids in far flung areas. If you are really serious i think it would help. Its wiser if you can use a subject title that catches attention so other bloggers would be interested to read, join, follow up and support. Right now maybe many are not aware about your good idea because things are discussed under this current subject which may not be appealing to everyone. By having a separate forum for your idea you will spread the awareness and who knows some would share good suggestions or will offer to help you materialize it. Then we can start to brainstorm and plan how to do it. What do you think? By the way are you in Laos? Or Lao nork?

Could you please open up a new topic about your plan to put up a project or foundation that aims to educate Lao kids in far flung areas. If you are really serious i think it would help.          Hi Dell, thank you for your advise. May be I have to do by my own way that I know how just for now. Also I am very disappointed to see my people on this website are still not United and try to humiliate on another . Also it seems to have someone might be none Lao to creat some senitive topic to provok the fight between Lao nai and Lao nork. Also I feel very sad to see some Thai people insult the Lao people that Lao people did not agreed with and used the obscent languge so I don't it is a good idea to do any thing at this web site. Well, thank any way Dell. But I still going to do it but on my own term with my community and the people whom I know first. By the way I am Lao-American and travel in and out laos a lot . Life is great and the world is wonderful for me. I am very lucky and successful and comfortable and thank God for that.

Hi. As you wish. All I can say is I wish you good luck and never give up. Ive seen a lot of potential in many Lao people, especially the youth who are more open minded and proactive and really work hard on their desire to be more educated and do worthwhile things. I hope you will be able to find them.

Some younger government workers are also promising so I hope those who are fond of criticizing the government will not generalize as it affects the morale of those who are just working hard and serving the people and country.

Just believe in yourself and never  give up easily when faced withadvesity!

Good luck to you and your friends! Maybe if you are successful Ill hear about it when I get back to Laos.

Yah its easy to assume it would be hard. But you will only know if you will give it a try. The point is you need to start somewhere or else nothing will happen. I still believe there are many good hearted lao out there, if many cant afford $10 then still welcome any amount. It would give good feeling and will contribute to the help.

Just donate $1 dollars per years that will  good if all the Lao people who are living in the US and Canada . There are over 300,000 Lao people. That would be 300,000 dollars per year. Let give it a try that will be very helpful for those kids.

I think is very good idea but I just want to share my true story life with u. Please take my world, this is  true story. I don't make this up. But take this a valuable lession.  I gave some one $25,000 us moneys but I didn't expect anything to return. Guess what?  They wanted  to sue me,but I know I will win the case if we go to the court. Please believe me that I tell you the true. if you believe in God, you have to believe in me. If you  believe in me, how you're going to get money from them even $1 it's hard to get it  from our Laotian people. Please this is real. When you believe is real. it's easy to help you make decision.  Please don't think I'm crazy, but I know from my heart  one day you will appreciate me.

You didnt go into detail how come you got sued after trying to help. There must be something wrong in the beggining.

This thing does not happen to everyone, it could be prevented. Have you seen some tell tale signs that what you got yourself into is fraud?

But you are right everybody should be careful. Maybe Anonymous should reveal himself so others can verify he is not just  fooling around.

Jealousy harmed everything. I'm speaking from my experience that I have gone through. To tell u the whole story is impossible. I'm not fooling around like another attacker who attempts purposely to chase visitors out of this forum by writting unattractive topics.  As matter of fact, I did give out  my E-mail before. Unfortunately, nobody bothers to contact me. Since that, I think everything in here is just a joke. If it's not, your idea is fantastic. I stay behind you 100%. Good luck!
