The traffic police in the central province of Thanh Hoa caught a Lao man carrying nearly 500,000 ecstasy pills in his car Tuesday, they said.
Xengphet, a 40-year-old resident of Vientiane in Laos, was detained after he was found with 464,000 ecstasy pills after being asked to stop his car, police said.
The pills were contained in nearly 80 separate packages hidden under the back seat.
The Hanoi-registered car with the number plate 29U-4988 was traveling north on National Highway 1A through Tinh Gia District’s Tung Lam Commune.
The traffic police handed over Xengphet and the tablets to the provincial anti-drug police for further investigation.
