It seems to me all lao nork is good only compain and criticize and good for nothing. If you really care now it time to come back to Laos . Now the Law has been changed if you are willing to sacrafice . I know that there are some Lao doctors , scientists, professors , teachers and skill workers.. and some are rich ...etc you earn much more money where you are working now. So it seems to me no one will give up the good pay and help to develop Laos .

I think you should ask Lao people as overall, not divided to Nai or Nok.
I am Lao Nai, and the thing i can do is countless, so many things.
I think if you don't help Laos, just don't destroy her.

That is up to the Lao government ( the communist party ) allow Lao nork to do without afraid of losing their power. There are a lot of new good ideas and good things that Lao nork could do. If the communist party really love to see Laos getting progress and really love Lao people to have a good living and developping the country, the Lao government should allow Lao nork to share some power in the government so they could bring some help and investors from the west and the US into Laos. First Lao must be united in order for Lao nork to do anythings without scaring to be arrested , executed and assasinated and preventing the bloodshed among Lao people. So let Laos be democry and be government by the people and for the people that will make Laos develop fast in matter of years not decades. In order for Laos to get ahead is to united and educated our people. So no more corruption, no more betray and willing to sacrafy and trust one another . If the Lao government(the communist party) really care about Lao people and Laos and willing to sacrafy and share the power that I believe Laos will catch up with the world with no time. As we know that is never going to happen , even any one of thier own member is not go along with the corrupted or against the party so he is not going to last. So it seems me it wast the time just to think about it because the whole government are corrupte and betray Lao people and Laos. ( casino, porno ,drug , destroy rainforest, corruption , immigrant millioon Chinese and Vietnamese and so on ). Sad and nothing that Lao nork could do.

Majority of Lao nai are poor and Lao people specially in the slum in Vientiane and the countryside and the remote area can not even help themself only the communist party and their family and their business associated with foreign company are rich and have power.

Laos don't want corruption period to get anything done have to bribe . Even the drug dealer bribe the police. Lao does not care about Thaksin corrupted as long as not Lao money and who know that he really corrupted and see no evidences onlly accused from the dictator malitary coup government. If he corrupted at that time the Thai economy still better than today . Thaksin paid all the Thai deth and much better economy today . Thai government today is no different than Lao government ( communist party ) any way they are selected by the dictator not elected by the people. So Thai and Lao government are the same . Remember Thai is about 100 years ahead of Laos.

The website include a listing of french speaking NGO working in Laos. i also try to launch a few engineering projects related to Laos needs through this website (but this is not success). The purpose of this website is also to exchange with Lao french speaking people (lao students, lao nork, cultural associations in France..)

What did i do directly in Laos? Not a lot in fact.... spend my money during holidays.. this is my little contribution to lao economy. I bought some land (official land owner remain my lao wife's family, but i'm moraly the owner -I paid-), to be able to build a business there one day, maybe live there.... Of course, i did this for my personal benefit, but at least, it was also injecting some money in Lao economy again.

If we have the current system, we better discuss how to make it better rather than dismantle it. No war is the best priority of the country development.

I have not done something significant yet in Laos if your measure is money or something concrete, Im not Lao anyway... I have not done something but to share ideas with my Lao friends, to share my experiences so that they would learn from them; to teach them how powerful information would be if only used properly; to motivate them and make them keep hoping for I believe that hope is what keep us going... moving forward hoping that someday after all the efforts and difficulties encountered we will finally reach our destination; to make them realize that poverty is not the end of the world; to use poverty to strive and work hard for a better life... because I myself was once very poor but I never gave up so I am where I am now.

I have observed that significant number of Lao are demoralized....some are poor and loosing hope... some are oppressed and loosing faith... some are neglected and loosing love.... in this scenario, do you think it would help to further criticize, to focus on the negative so that they would become more hopeless...

You are what you do... you should do what you say.... and when you say something make sure that it will generate positive influence to others.

Sometimes it only takes kind words, encouragement and faith to make someone believe in himself and gain confidence.. so that he will change course and take the road that will lead him to the top, no matter how steep it is.

Im not saying that it is bad to criticize. I agree with Samakomlao, its ok to criticize so long that you will offer ideas to correct the thing that is being criticize... in that case you are making a positive criticism. Words are powerful, make good use of them.

Oh my god , what are you trying to tell me. So let me tell you in a very simple way that every body could understand . If the Lao government loves and cares about Laos and the Lao people and would like to see Laos getting progress. I mean the communist party must allow every lao people who capable to get Laos out of this **** hole OK run the country . There will be no war no body like war and let do it the civilize way if the communist party care and love Laos and respect and obey the constitutions and the laws as the educated and civilize people. So let the Lao people know what your plans are if you are the government and what you are going to do for the Lao people and Laos for the next 4 or 5 years term while you are in the power. Rather than arguing and fighting each other, we need to discuss what to solve the problem and i think it would be better than trying collapse Laos and create new regime. I have not done something significant yet in Laos if your measure is money or something concrete, Im not Lao anyway... I have not done something but to share ideas with my Lao friends, to share my experiences so that they would learn from them; to teach them how powerful information would be if only used properly; to motivate them and make them keep hoping for I believe that hope is what keep us going... moving forward hoping that someday after all the efforts and difficulties encountered we will finally reach our destination; to make them realize that poverty is not the end of the world; to use poverty to strive and work hard for a better life... because I myself was once very poor but I never gave up so I am where I am now.

I hate politic but the situation drag me into it because it effects of what I would like to do since I have made my reseach so I know more and it worry me and I sometimes would like to give up.

Well dont give up no matter what. it is just normal to feel that way but never let that feeling eat you alive. maybe you can pause a while, study the scenario and change strategy. maybe you need to look back and see where you did wrong and avoid repeating the mistake. Its ok to slowdown and rest fro awhile when you feel tired. but as soon as you regained strength continue to move forward.

Remember moving forward will take you somewhere... giving up will take you nowhere. It is sweeter to fail by trying than to be defeated by not trying at all.

Yes , I see not only a 3 rd Lao but I also see 4th and 5 th Lao . What I see million of Chinese and Vietnamese who are going to become Lao citizen in the near future are going to be the only one who are going the be the first class citizen , rich and powerful in Laos. The real people are still poor and not well educated and still are going to live in the slum , the countryside and the remote area and not too much hope for them. I think "copy" is not the right word because it connotes "exactness" or "replica." Laos cant be a replica of japan or germany or china or thailand. Because, like human, each country is unique. Laos has its own identity, culture, history, geography. so to just copy without considering other factors is ery risky. If others became successful or failed for doing something, it does not mean you will succeed or fail if you do the same thing, that is because there are factors that are intrinsic and extrinsic to an individual/ country. Japan and Germany for example may have been broke after the war, but they have already experienced how it is to be powerful, hence, it was easier for them to improve again using the previous experience they have with some fiine-tuning. Unlike in Lao, some of you are even admiting that Laos has always been dependent, even for defense Laos would rely on Vietnam, etc.

I think the right word is "model". The countries mentioned earlier could serve as models for Laos. having several model is ok but what is important is how to define the line between success and failure and between what is applicable for Laos and what is not. Those countrie were not perfect and nobody is. Sometimes strategies tried by other country which result to failure can prove to be a success to another.

I guess what is important is understanding success and failures of other nations and the factors that caused them and use them as model. then compare vs. the existing strenghts and weaknesses of Laos as well as the opportunities and challenges ahead. By doing so Laos can develop its own model that is tailor-fit to Laos as a whole (e.g. with consideration to culture, society, etc.)

There is no single solution and you cant just say lets copy this lets copy that. No man, it doesn't work that way. and I guess many of us already know that.

Aircrafts chinese do not design the engines, supplied from the West and Europeans, Spaceship all Soviet/Russian technical suported, and even help trained chinese astronauts, Cars, as we all know ever sine the Man name( Deng-xiaoping) take on an economic reforms, he kindda open up to the West to go in and invested all kindda Manufacturings, Auto parts, car assembly plant,Airplane's body flame-work,wiring, as well as all house hold electronics, TV,VCR, and so on..all of these manufacturing own by the west..and a few yrs ago there were a conflict between chinese government and the West, because all the chinese engineers who've work for the west's company and stole some secret duccuments and designed their own cars, and one of the car look exactly like a Jeep-liberty of chrysler..and the other look like wv of Germany. but there is nothing they can do about it..just keep an eyes on these workers..

Yes, of course there are a lot of things that the world need to be told about China.
There are about 1.3 billion Chinese, and about 40 million Chinese communist party who are rich and wealthy and also about 260 million Chinese are middle class and have a good living and the rest about 1 billion Chinese still poor. Since the United States and the west opened trade and invested in China because of cheap labor with low cost products and big profit for American investors , So almost of every things are made and built China even the American own flags are made in China because of cheap labor that why the China economy is good till today . So without the America markets so you don't how much China economy is going to hurt , just look at the toy business in United States if the US stop import the Chinese toys that US can live withoutwho will be hurt but China. Lao government should do the same with the west and the United states and get rich or want to be stupid like north Korea and be poor. Lao people want to have good living , good education and good health care for every citizen in Laos not only Lao communist party and famlies who associated with foreign business. So Laos should look at Japan and Germany as good example by study their laws and constutions and show the world communitee that Lao government is the government by the people and for the people not by some group of the people ( dictatorship system). So Laos could earn the trust from the world investors and the world bank when they laon Laos money and guarentee that Laos will pay them back. Then Laos will have more investors to invest in Laos. So Japan and Germany are good example for Laos . i think you read too much news on CNN . Have you been to china? how well do you know china? I have been living in china for almost 10 years, of course the poor chinese are more than Lao population, but as I have said, the majority of chinese are not poor. yes it divides into High class, middle class and low class, the poor and rich are so big difference and unbalances.

That is up to the Lao government ( the communist party ) allow Lao nork to do without afraid of losing their power. There are a lot of new good ideas and good things that Lao nork could do. If the communist party really love to see Laos getting progress and really love Lao people to have a good living and developping the country, the Lao government should allow Lao nork to share some power in the government so they could bring some help and investors from the west and the US into Laos. First Lao must be united in order for Lao nork to do anythings without scaring to be arrested , executed and assasinated and preventing the bloodshed among Lao people. So let Laos be democry and be government by the people and for the people that will make Laos develop fast in matter of years not decades. In order for Laos to get ahead is to united and educated our people. So no more corruption, no more betray and willing to sacrafy and trust one another . If the Lao government(the communist party) really care about Lao people and Laos and willing to sacrafy and share the power that I believe Laos will catch up with the world with no time. As we know that is never going to happen , even any one of thier own member is not go along with the corrupted or against the party so he is not going to last.
