US job losses worse than expected

Men sitting by a poster advertising a job searching service
The unemployment rate is creeping towards 10%

The number of jobs lost in the US last month came in at 467,000, which was much more than had been expected.

The jobless rate rose to 9.5% in June, from 9.4% in May, as the US economy continued to struggle.

I never thought about going back to Laos even if i get laid off, I really dont want to count back to zero, i am serious.
If i get laid off, i will apply for unemployee benefits and go back to school to learn something new. Do you think it's great opportunity?

Yes , I do think so because if your unemployment benefit ended while you're in school for job/courier training your unemployment will be extend until you're done with classes.

My parent are both loosing their jobs since a summer of 2008. They are now talking about go back to Laos. Jobless rate in State where we are is up to 14.5% since September 2009. I don't want my parent go back to Laos yet, I just came to U.S.A. lest than 2 years and I am not Lao-American yet. Worse come to worse I would have to" SO TAI "  look for better job, and hopefully I'll found one.

Yes, you maybe right,Bro, But all of Laotians collect their unemployment check every weeks, that's for sure, ok. What asian countries do that, some of europeans can't even afford to do what the U.S.A do?  you stay home and collect money. how's that?

RECENT UPDATE ON MARKET & ECONOMIC

Initial jobless claims exceed expectations

More Americans than forecast filed claims for unemployment benefits last week, a reminder that the labor market will be slow to recover. Initial jobless applications rose by 11,000 to 531,000 in the week ended Oct. 17, from a revised 520,000 the prior week that were the fewest in nine months. Analysts were looking for new claims to total 515,000. Macro Strategist Gary Thayer says in today’s client-approved Daily Economic Comment hat claims would probably need to drop to 450,000 or less in order for the measure to signal that businesses were creating more jobs than they were cutting.

Well, may be you are right brother what is your intention to bring this issue up here and insult your fella Laotian over sea. So you are happy that your fella Laotian over sea  lost their jobs so they won't be able to send the money to support their families back home in Laos or won't have the money to travel to visit Laos to watch the SEAN Game in December. Never might about 50,000, 000 American people, they are in poverty if that is the truth but I doubt it . The American people could take care of themselves, they have unemployment benefit , welfare checks and food stamp and the America government will be able to feed the American people and other illegal Mexican and other nation for many years and still have enough money to spend the military stars war research and  send the spaceship in the space. So you said many Lao-American is thinking of going home that is right so what would the Lao government will do with them . Lao government could create any jobs for them and could not feed them and not enough land for them to farm. Don't you think it is better for those people to stay where they are and work and make money so they send money to help their families in Laos that they are indirectly help Laos economy by send a lot of dollars into Laos. Laos need the well educated people , skill workers and business person who are already successful to come back with money and the people who are well educated with brain and mind not thousand of 8 to 5 workers . So what is your intention by bright this comment and insult your fellow Laotian. I believe you need a professional medical mental help now before it is too late then you will be too far gone . I notice every topic instead of try to united all Laos to work together you have to ruin and insult your own Lao people. All I could see only Laotian are going to Thailand and try to go the first world country and looking to for jobs and freedom every moment if they have the opportunity to do so. Only more Vietnamese and Chinese would like to come to Laos because they want to conquer Laos.

It is not the land of promise but the land for people who would like to work hard.To look from inside Laos out , it seems that it is impossible but when looks from the out side of Laos back into Laos that every thing it is possible.  Almost every body even the rich and poor Chinese , Japanese and many other nation would like live in the United states even the US economy is in turmoil and a lot of people are losing jobs because of  freedom and democracy and equal opportunity and good justice system and the government is elected by the people and for the people.
