for me, it doesn't look like a temple. it rather look like a government office (there are lao national flags) or a residence cos' it has a chimney. I never saw a temple with cooking place...

I dont know whether you are buddhist or not and what standard you based on to judge this temple is URGLY.
For budhists, temple is where people go to pray and seek for the peaceful mind, temple is an important place. And it was built up by ppl's donation and sacrification.
Temple has its owned value, not the look.... please take the word back... -^-

I think this is a beautiful temple. I've never seen a Lao temple like this...

Temples in Laos come in various styles and form. Caves can be a temple too, even though they're not fancily decorated.

This building not a temple, it's office building, integrated lao and french style architecture, it's located in Luangprabang, now become french culture center
