Thanks Tinko for sharing this beautiful story. I agree that someone or something percieved to be ugly can possess true beauty if only we look closer and not get blinded by our own delusions and self-centeredness. Among the human race, there are many people who possess physical beauty, extravagance, elegance... but with very vile character. There are, on the other hand, those who appear unsightly, rugged, and even scary, but given an opportunity to interact with them you will discover that they have pure heart and noble character.
One day I was walking very fast because I would be late for work. I was passing by a place where there is a beggar who frequented that area. It was raining and the pavement is kinda slippery so I lost my footing and fell on the wet ground. I can see some people smiling and I felt ashamed for my clumsiness, but then someone offered his hand and helped me back on my feet. Guess who? He's the beggar whom I often stay away from because he's filthy. He said to me "next time be careful." It came as a surprise, I felt numb and ashamed for my wrong judgement and that incident humbled me. Since then I smiled and waved at him whenever I passby. I dont care that people think I might be crazy to befriending such "ugly and filthy looking person." Who cares!
I am not saying that all beautiful are ugly nor all ugly are beautiful. But dont be carried away by external beauty, to discover a person's true beauty is to look deeply into his/her personality. If you're lucky enough, you might even discover someone who is beautiful both in and out!
