I really think they put it up just for fun, I don't think this is real sign,If they serious and put it on the Street. That would be violated the (DOT) department. anyway i was LOL.HA.HA.
Unbeleivable!!!!!!!! they write wrong lao language. It should be Khoum Huk not Loum Lak. Why don't they check? Where is the ministry of culture? What are they doing?
Lao language is destroyed now!!!!!!! Herry up!!!!! please help Lao language survive.
If Vientiane was in Sam Neua, they would use real Lao language. Now Vientiane is one part of Thailand, It won't be long Lao Vientiane will not be able to speak nor neither read and speak Pha Sa Lao.
I thought it could go both ways. Sometime I use Loom and sometime I use khoom.
Hi, their... Is ( loom ) a new word in Lao language? I'm quite unaware of it. The only Lao word that I knew that described a pot hole is ( khoom). Sorry for the confusion.

i saw the same way, as is above, loom with mai ek, at my place means UNDERNEATH.
I thought Loom mean wind? And why r Lao trying to be Thai? Now I feel like I don't want to associate myself with Lao people anymore. Or is it that some Lao can't spell there own language? seriously?OMG

Think again! Lao take from Thai or Thai take from Lao. when you don know don't make a fool of your self.

I agreed with Kwanjai about " Lao trying to be Thai" I heard all the time, some of Lao tended to use Thai word in their sentence. For example, instead of saying " Phousai khon naan jao sou" they would say "phousai khon naan lor"I mean,is this suppost to make you feel cool! that you don't even know your own language? For your info Lao does have the word for "HANDSOME" as in "JAO SOU" that's it.

Do you think lao people, lao culture are inferior than thai....? I visited Lao and shocked when my grand children even spoke thai and repeated something in thai tv. Do you think it is sad.

expanding your horizon is not sad. i would love for my grand kids to be able to speak multiple languages (Cambodian, Vietnam, Chinese you name it, and including Thai)
I heard numerous times from Thai actors/actress/Thai TV host instead of saying Kop Kune they said Kop Chai. That's make me Happy. We are all doing it even when we speak Lao we use some of the English words.
No i don't think Lao cultures are superior than Thai. "I leave that to Thai they think they are superior in all aspects"
but, i can say Lao cultures are Authentic and it's not going away anytime soon.
