Private and local companies back the 25th SEA Games
(KPL) The Laos?s SEA Games Organising Committee held a gala dinner at the Lao-ITECC last Friday to mobilise fund for the 25th SEA Games to be hosted by Laos in Vientiane in upcoming December.
The committee netted donations totalling over 900 million kip and US$358,000 in cheques, 116.9 million kip and US$132,000 in cash, and equipment worth over US$300,000 from local and foreign businesses.
The contribution came from donators, including the Chinese Golden Boten City Co., Ltd., Lao Electricity State Enterprise, Future Construction Group from China, Golden Dok Ngiew, Vietnamese Development and Investment Bank, MMG Lane Xang Mineral, Nam Ngum Dam 2, Khuan Meuang Trading, Theun Hinboun, Star Telecom, Tong Construction, Cross Fire, Inpeng, Lao Airlines, Lao World, Lao Fuel State Enterprise, Vongkhanty Construction, Lao Post State and Enterprise, Lao-Viet Insurance, ST Group, Planet Computer, Pharmacy No. 3, Thong Sang Nang Paper, DM Construction and Trading, Lao Insurance, Lao Cotton State Enterprise, Supply, Malini, Mekong Law, Lao Handicraft Product Association, KPS Wood Product, Paseuth Foam, Lao Telecommunication, Lao-German State and Enterprise, Dafy Fuel State Enterprise, Ba Woo Mining, Vietnamese Embassy, Nguyen Xuan Khoat, X-Sotimo Tourism companies and also have many companies were informed to support more in the SEA Games.
The event was attended by Standing Deputy Prime Minister and President of the SEA Games Committee, Mr Somsavat Lengsavad, President of the National Sports Committee, Dr Phouthong Seng-akhom, sports officials and company representatives. On this occasion, Mr Somsavat thanked the guests for their valuable contributions to the games and expressed his confidence in the success of the tournament thanks to their support.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the SEA Games Federation. Although Laos has been involved in the games since the beginning, this is the first time the country has been given a chance to host the prestigious event. Mr. Somsavat said the level of sports being played in Laos had improved to the point where the country was ready to take on the competition, and event organising had also reached the required standard.
