An-74
The state-run Kharkiv aviation plant delivered an An-74 TK300 aircraft to Laos last week, Interfax-Ukraine learned at the enterprise.

The plant assembled the aircraft under a contract signed in 2005. Laos is already operating An-74 supplied to the country earlier.

The An-74 TK300 aircraft was designed on the basis of An-74 and can carry 10 tonnes of cargo or 52 passengers. This year, Kharkiv plant is to construct three An-74 in the frames of the contracts with Libya, Laos and Egypt. The Antonov An-74 is used by the military and civil airlines in 20 countries.

Together with foreign partners, the An-74 designer - Antonov Design Bureau - is working to modernize the aircraft.

Who purchase this kind of aircraft, I really dislike this kind of aircraft fly over the sky of Laos, if I have antiaircraft I will shoot immediately ha.ha.ha.

it is not for a WAR, this is an aircraft to use for army and people, for example" flooding in southern laos, Lao army has to fly and bring the army to help the victims and sending the food and medicine. u got it?

As the information said that this plane could cary 10 tonnes of good, so LAO using this plane for civil purpose such as delivery assistant stuffs to the flooding areas...and so on. I believe it worthed, to have some of them indeed.

No Civil war in Laos no more, but now Lao PDR Government is having another war is bigger than ever. Lao PDR was using times to fight and win last Civil war only 30 years. A war that Lao PDR Government is fighting today, we don't know how long will be done. Over 60 years the both " Lao Kao " ( Old Lao Kingdom Democracy ) and " Lao Mai " ( New Lao PDR ) is still fighting with war but no sign of victory. This war is no need no high tech weapons, but need high level of education forces to fight with it. Lao PDR education level is so far behind from the other countries in Asia or SEA , if comparing to the others. Next one hundred years I don't think Lao PDR is winning over this war.
Spend money for aircraft is unnecessary for Laos at this time, why don't use that money to fund for young Laotians education.

THIS WAR IS ECONOMY WAR.

There is 1 engine on both side of the plane. Don't you see it?

 One there is only 1 engine it might be just on the tail only. Not only 1 side of the wings.

why do these comments sound like they have fear in them.

the more planes laos has the better.

defense, economic, relief aid, etc....


if this is for laos its good, if see that flying over vientien its for a good cause.

you can buy all 3, they are not very expensive as you can see, the chinese will buy 30 at the begining. see bellow !

Possibilities of Purchase by China of 30 An-74TK-300 Airplanes not Ruled out in Ukrainian Government Apparatus

During a visit to Kiev of the Chinese Ministry of Civil Aviation Liu Tzenfen, a protocol of intent was signed by the Chinese side to obtain two An-74TK-300 airplanes.  As an informed source within the government apparatus of Ukraine reported to a correspondent of the Military News Agency, in the future the purchase by China of another 30 airplanes of this type is not being ruled out.

The An-74TK-300 is one of the modifications of the An-72 - An-74 family of airplanes.  It is put out in series by the Khar'kov aviation plant.  The An-74TK-300 was demonstrated to the public at the last air salon in Le Bourget and at the MAKS-2001 international air and space salon.  The market for An-74TK-300 in the CIS countries is estimated at approximately 30 ((sic)) aircraft, and in Ukraine itself at 240 airplanes.  The cost of one aircraft is 12 - 15 million dollars.
