How much will you get back if you deposit in collapsed banks in Laos?

For those who are financial savvy. Please help us to enlighten what if a bank collapse were to happen in Laos, how much will you get your deposit back? Do you know any bank collapse in Laos before?

I read this article from the Nations (Thailand): http://www.nationmultimedia.com/2009/10/31/politics/politics_30115562.php . This article really trembles me as I learn influence of Politics affects the bank. For Laos, as I know, many banks (both Private and Public) are relatively new and lack of good record or history. In addition, "Stock Exchange or Market" is coming to Laos soon.

Banks in Laos should have depository guarantee by government regulations. They must be controlled by the laws of the state for the safety of the depositors' accounts for the protection of their money.

Stick to the Lao banks in Laos, not the Thai ones. China has had a strong hand  in Lao monetary policy since the late 90s, and the Chinese know how to handle money. Remember when the kip was inflating about 10% per week? And they chucked the Treasury guy who was the only fellow with an economics degree in the whole country? Well the chinese "donated" a lot of cash and sent in some of their green eye shade types and things have been hunky dory ever since. Look what the kip has done against the dollar!

Some day the Chinese are going to allow the RMB to find it's own level, look for the kip to go up then.

How did the bank collapsed?
Was is earth quake?
Was is Fire?
Was is typhoon Ketsana?
Was is raining very hard?
It is a bank. Why don't they build it stronger?

Lao engineers need to design better building for a bank so it will not collapse this easily.

I really think, that the gentleman mean financial collaped, just like 1997 Asians economics collaped, remember that??  when they mixed the word  collape with the financial term, It' mean, Is it save for the their money if something like 97 happen again or financial crisis, or market crash?? the words collape, crisis, crash. not alway associate with natural disaster.also invole with many sports too.

That's good news.  Wonder if this is related to US treasury's lowering the value of a dollar on purpose.  I believe this strategic move was to boost US Export in foreign markets during economic crisis.

I don't think it's FDIC insured. Most Lao banks are not globally recognized and do not have monetary strenght in the global economy.
I remember back in the 60s, our parent lose all of of our money when it was converted to new KIP.
To be smart about it, I would not put a lot of of money in Lao bank.
Hope that helps.

No bank outside of the US is FDIC insured. By definition the FDIC is a US institution.

I think the Lao government is better at running their banking system than the US is at running theirs, mostly due to technical assistance from the Chinese, and the pervasive high level of corruption in the US.

The biggest banks in the US aren't insured, nor are deposits over 200K, and soon that number will return to 100k of deposits with insurance.

US banks are run as large gambing casinos. The investors and mangers of the banks make lots of money if they win and if they lose the citizens of America cover the losses.

Watches are a beautiful thing. Certainly, they tell us the time - but aren't they so much more than that? replicas watches Through their watches, a person can express so much, and in a way it could be said:replicas watches Show me your watch and I'll tell you who you are.
