“KHOP CHAI LAOS” (Thank You, Laos) was the message delivered to first-time hosts Laos for putting on a grand show for more than 4,000 athletes and officials from 11 countries at the 25th SEA Games closing ceremony last night.

After almost two weeks of competition in 25 sports, the Games was officially brought to an end in a colourful ceremony at the Main Stadium of National Sports Complex in Vientiane.

The closing ceremony itself was a unique celebration of the various cultures of the South-East Asian region.

Before the start of the official programme at 6pm local time (7pm Malaysian time), the early birds in the stadium were entertained to songs from the 11 participating nations – Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, Vietnam and Laos.
