Lao Government to invite millionaires from around the world to invest in Laos

Any Lao millionaires here? Read this...

The government will invite millionaires from around the world to Laos this year so they can see for themselves the investment potential for this landlocked country.

THe idea is all part of government efforts to boost foregn direct investment and strengthen GDP growth, with the goal of generating job opportunities.

With a larger percentage of the population gainfully employed, the country would be free from poverty by 2020, in line with the government s long-term development goals.

According to a report from the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the first meeting of millionaires in Laos will take place in Vientiane at the end of this year, to coincide with the 450th anniversary of Vientiane as the capital of Laos.

For the hard and smart working Lao people around the world who have been working hard all their lives and save every penny all their lives.  If they sell their homes , cars and every things  that they own plus their whole life saving , they might barely be a millionaires. Should they risk all of their money and gamble  every things in one card to do the business in Laos ? Not too long ago a lot of traders lost all of their money since 1976 the new government  changed the currency and just wonder that the history could be repeated itself or not. At that time every business and companies were took over by the government and the people lost every things and the people were end up with nothing and then they fled the country and became refugees. Lao currency is very poor (Lao money)

That's is very scary thought. My parent lose everything when the new currency was converted. Should have bought gold back then. With new era, I don't think this can be repeated because Laos economy is a little more diverse and sustained and aiming toward growth. Unless the current government is not in power anymore, that is unlikely at the moment.
