         That is very good to build 5 stars hotel in Laos. But just wonder Vietnam herself
         is not that rich and well develop country compare to Thailand , Singapore and
         south Korea why they want to build 5 stars hotel , resource and golf course in
         Laos instead of in Vietnam . According to the world business Vietnam is asking for
         foreign investors to invest in Vietnam and asking for more loans and more money
        to develop Vietnam when they got the money and then Vietnam invest in Laos
        such as 5 stars hotel, golf course , copper mine and rubber plantation ? Why ?
        Confuse ? May be more profit to invest in Laos? correct me if I am wrong. But
        Vietnam build a lot of factories in Vietnam but Vietnam does not build factory in Laos.
        Only invest on somethings which don't create to many jobs for the local people.
        Only leasing the land from Laos.

No complain that Vietnam is going to build five stars hotel in Laos . Welcome every body to build five stars or seven stars hotel in Laos and make Lao look like Dubai would be excellent. Vietnam build a lot of factories in Vietnam so the Vietnamese would have jobs. Vietnam invest in Laos such as copper mine and rubber plantation because they need copper and rubber to feed their factories. Vietnam invest on the five stars hotel and golf course because they think they could make good money from the tourists who come to visit the beautiful country of Laos. So nothings more and nothing less but business .

i don't like it, there are many guesthouse and hotel in vientiane, 5 stars for what? anyway hopefully the hotel will create the job and enrich lao ppls...

Hi brother Khonthakek , you know that hotel will not create as many jobs as the factory but better than not to build at all. There will be some jobs .

Five stars for billionaires like Bill Gates just in case they come to visit Laos not only back packer to visit Laos.

Which area in Vientiane they are going to build this hotel? I am going to buy land near that hotel

Why the government don't ask the Russian billionaires to build the seven stars hotel like they had been built in Dubai. It is Laos suppose to pay back the Russia debte settlement

has ratified an agreement between the governments of Russia and Laos
on the settlement of the republic's loan debt to Russia denominated in
rubles. According to Mikhail Margelov, chairman of the Federation
Council's foreign affairs committee, the agreement provides for the
restructuring of Laos's total $1.3 billiondollars debt from November 1, 2003. Laos
now has the right to refrain from paying 70 percent of the sum, while
the other 30 percent is subject to negotiations and must be fully
repaid in accordance with the payment schedule. Furthermore, the
consolidated sum and interest rate can be used by Russia in exchange
for its share in environmental protection and other projects on the
territory of Laos. Moreover, Russia is entitled to exchange the
country's debt for certain products and services.

Do you gentle people think Vietnam really regards Laos as a seperate country ? ...Naaah. It thinks Vientiane is part of Vietnam. I woudn't be surprised if in a few years Vientiane becomes Vietiane.
Why do they build the hotel in Laos ? Because they use the money from other projects (in Laos) to pay for this project. I don't accept the thought that this project is "better than nothing". NO! The Vietnamese can take their everything, including their noses, back to Viet land.

This is one part of their settlement from Laos to pay the Vietnam back. So 10 years from from there will be million of Vietnamese own business and land in Laos . Also Lao farmer will keep on losing their farm land.

i agree last time i looked vietnams economy wasnt doing all that great lao economy was actually growing faster then vietnam recently.

i also dont mind having a five star hotel in laos, but at what price to the locals and as long as they hire lao people i am ok with it.

what i see for lao is since we are in the middle of 5 different countries and want to become a land linked country. i believe our economy might be able to bypass the whole production sweat shop era and go stright for the service industries. but for that to happen we need a well developed infrastructure but i believe lao can do it.

Just let the Russian build another 5 stars hotel like they build in Dubai . So give some land to pay for their debt settlement ,
