Nothing will ever happen or Change in Laos. Lao people will live like cattle for the Laos Government. Lao people will do anything to fight with each other to survive. They can't even help each other out, but greedy with there own people. Even look at those Hmong in the state, they are more advance then most Laotian. Because of this reason, Laos was isolated and had less community activity and gathering within Laos and Oversea. See many had turn away from Lao people, but accepted as American for the newer generation.

"Lao people are failing all over the world, including those in Laos with no mean to be Lao anymore."

Don't loose you hope just yet my friend, right now the number of highly educated people are still in a small percentage and many of us are still inherit from old and bad habits, hopefully it died out and the number of highly educated people will in crease as time goes on in the mien time what we can do is to promote our language, costume,  tradition, recognize / support success in one another and to include our new generation from as young as 1yr old in many events and activities that's more appropriate for their age as much as we can with in our community. Don't only focuses on only the adults when it comes to activities and event no mater if is in the Buddhist temple, or your home.

OK  my friend then in the next 10 years Laos will be more Chinese and Vietnamese and most of the business will be owned by the Chinese and also Vietnamese. Laotian will still be poor and not well educated and will be the minority and second class citizen. Laos will be owned and run by the Chinese and Vietnamese. Yes there will  more development in more new building as new China town , Chinese shopping mall, more new roads , railroad modern airport , modern house for the rich  but the majority of the Laotian will be poor and undirected and living in the city slam and countryside and the remote area. That is the reality of Poor Laotian.

This person is actually basing on the fact of his own failure and his current  struggle in the US, which is totally different from the situation in the Lao PDR.

One concern that the community now faces is declining cultural practices -- which include traditions, values, and language -- among a newer generation of Laotian Americans dispersed throughout the country. This dispersal challenges a traditionally concentrated and inclusive community.

These children consequently suffer academically, because help is unavailable to them in their home environments. While some students have the ability to succeed, unfortunately not all students have the resources available to them to achieve higher learning -- lack of financial resources remain a major challenge. Another current problem in the community is the high rate of Laotian American youth going to prison, reportedly the highest rate among all Southeast Asian youth. Many reasons can be cited for this problem, but lack of parental involvement is a major factor.

What does it have any things to do with the Lao American who are the losers in the united States for the next 10 years that the country of Laos  ( Laos) which will be indirectly controlled , run and dominated and owned by the Chinese and the Vietnamese. If the Lao American are going to  be blamed for because there are some Lao American are not successful and failed in the United States. If it so that would be part of the Lao government as well , to blame because they are also the victims of war that made them to feed the country. The Lao American are still better off than they are in Laos which have no future and no jobs at all at least in the United States , they have the choice and the opportunity if they don't make it in life so that are their faults. What we are talking on this topic what will happen in the next 10 years about economy and development between Laos and Cambodia . Nothing to insult the poor Lao kids and poor people who are living in Laos but feeling sorry for them and would like to help them. If someone would  show the opinion and find the solution if the government could resolve the problems and help these poor Laotian and the country and make the Lao economy and development move faster. Majority of Lao kids are living in Laos and don't have the opportunity like the kids over sea. If those kids and Lao people could have their wishes and I bet you that they all would like to live in the united States and careless of  what the problems are .

Well know fact.  First generation of immigrants and refugees don't often necessary do well.  However, by the 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation they will progressively do better and eventually do as well as anyone else.  Try not to have any more ill feeling toward your fellow kins men and women.  Do you know that Lao nork contributed up to a third of Laos economy in 2008?

You defeatism sentiment display in here, is a direct result of your failure to compete economically in the West and North America. Fortunately, Lao citizens do not share you bitterness and "chicken little" sentiment."

The people of Lao PDR do not harbor grudges against no one. It's always the Foreigners that are attacking Lao PDR. No Lao citizens go around the internet, spreading false rumours and inciting hatred among people.

What I presented earlier are undisputable fact that I used to defend the honor of my Country. My finding are directly from the US Census Bureau Report. If you have evidence suggesting otherwise, please direct it at the US Census Bureau.

A lot of Lao nork also don't harbour grudges against khon Lao of Lao PDR either, I for one don't.  They're just providing comments and debate on the political system of Lao PDR.  The same way you would have on the Royal Lao Government.

Foreigners don't distinguish the difference between Lao-Americans and Lao PDR.  If you're bad mouthing Lao-Americans then they'll form their opinions of Lao people in general.  Imagine if you randomly uproot 10% of Lao in Lao PDR and then take them to live in the US, I don't think they'll perform any better or worst than what it is now.

It's no secret that Lao PDR are  sensitive to foreign interferences. Lao PDR is an Independence Sovereign State. Throughout the entire Lao History, we have fought off numerous Foreing Invaders. With a long history of Foreign Aggression, it is within our right to be in the caution side.

Foreigners don't distinguish the difference between Lao-Americans and Lao PDR.

Lao-American or Lao-Martian, don't matter to us. You show up in Lao PDR with passport other than Lao Passport, you're a foreigner to us and we'll treat you accordingly.

If you're bad mouthing Lao-Americans then they'll form their opinions of Lao people in general.

We have no quarrel with the Lao-American, nor we demand anything from them. We have our own battle to fight. If the Lao-American want to participates in Lao PDR's economic prosperity, they are more than welcome but cannot exceed the US-Lao bilateral agreement.

Imagine if you randomly uproot 10% of Lao in Lao PDR and then take them to live in the US, I don't think they'll perform any better or worst than what it is now.

Sorry!  I am not interest in your refugee struggling to adapt into their host country story.

Yes , the Vietnamese has been giving a lot of advices to Laos . So Lao Nai loves the Vietnamese and trust them more than the Lao refugee who had never involved with any politic in their lives but regular citizen who had to feed Laos and turn their from the violent and find the better living and better education and Lao Nai consedered Lao nork as foreigners but the Lao nork who fled the country work ahrd and has been sending a lot of dollars to Laos to help and sorppoert their familis that will be part of help Lao economy. When the Lao over sea talk about the truth and would like Lao to be a better place to live  , and they could stand to hear the truth instead of finding the solution and fit the problem. The next 10 years that there will be million of Vietnamese and Chinese in Laos and they will owned and control almost every business in every field in Laos. The majority of Laotian are still going to be not well educated and are still poor . But imagine if the south Korean leader or Singaporean leader and their government are running Laos , there will be a lot of things will be happening , more improving and more developing in the next 10 years in Laos.

Why Lao internal affair concern you? According to your own admission, you're an outsider. You're out of the equation when it come to Laos domestic affairs. You can't influence nothing in Lao PDR. That's up to the people of Lao PDR to decide for themselves.

Laos has been in co-existence with China and Vietnam for more than 800 hundred years. If the Chinese and Vietnamese wants to take over Laos, why must they wait till the next 10 years?

Again, please do not base the situation in Lao PDR on the failure of some Lao-American. Lao PDR and the USA are two different places.

Different person my friend . This topic is about the economy and development in the next 10 years between Cambodia and Laos . A lot of Cambodia videos that shows that Cambodia is in the progress of economy growth and modernizing the city . Chinese will build China town and more new casinos  and million of Chinese will be settled in Laos and also Vietnam will build gold course and 5 five hotel that the a lot of poor Lao people will lose their farm 's land and the wetland will be destroyed  in Laos. South Korea will build Hyundai auto assembly factory in Cambodia. So what does it have anything to do with Lao American in United States . Every body love and care for Laos .

The United States: The Land of 8.9 Million Millionaires

The United States has often been referred to as the only country in the world with a million millionaires. Recent figures show that this number is actually much higher. Dr. Bill Belew of PanAsianBizreports that the U.S. has 8.9 million households worth at least 1 million dollars. This is compared to China with 300,000 millionaires and Russia with 88,000.

The millionaires are the prime movers of the economy; they are the Atlases that hold it up and fuel its progress through vast investments. Russia and China both have a rising class of millionaires-- and Russia has 3 times more millionaires per capita than China. This is promising for both countries' economic future-- which will be beneficial for the rest of the world as well, as it will result in increased exports of valuable goods and services from these countries.

Yet this news should also allay fears about the United States losing its "competition" with dynamic developing countries like China. The United States outnumbers China by a factor of about 30 in the absolute number of its millionaires and by more than 100 in the number of millionaires per capita. Chinese millionaires are prospering, but they will have to do from 30 to 100 times better to even possibly catch up with the United States! Americans have no reason for fearing their country's displacement from the position of the number-one economic power in the world.

America will not lose because of globalization; trade with the Western world has helped aspiring entrepreneurs in Russia and China become millionaires. Trade with Russia and China could help more aspiring American businessmen become millionaires as well. What is good for the millionaires is good for everyone else-- if their money was earned through honest work and commerce, not coercion or political exploitation

Since you claimed to be very well educated and successful, then answer my question. What guarantee do you have that the children in Laos will not follow the example of the children of Lao-American if given the opportunity?

One more question:  What is consider to be a successful person? What are the criteria? I'd like to know it from a successful person such as yourself.

While some Lao-American children in the US did not the take the opportunity that the US has to offer, what guarantee do you have that the children in Laos would not follow suit?
At least they have a chnace in life. Thank God that I am well educated and sucessful and I could never make it in Laos. There are some successful and well educated Laotian. Matter of fact there are more successful people in the United States than any where else on earth.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is no guarantee in any thing my friend but  giving the poor kids and poor people to have a chance and the opportunity that all the people need . My parents did not even finish elementary school in Laos. So I consider that I am successful because I went all the way  and earned my degree . Every things that I have , I earned them from my honest working, not from corrupting and stealing from any body or from the country. For you, my friend that is what you have to wonder .... I don't have to prove any thing to you.

Cambodia to launch $100 million casino complex

PHNOM PENH Feb 16 (Reuters) - A Cambodian tycoon will launch a $100 million casino near the country's border with Vietnam this month to attract foreign tourists and develop the country's fast-growing entertainment industry.

The Titan King Casino will open its doors on Feb. 26 in Bavet, a town in Svay Rieng province, about 120 km (75 miles) from Phnom Penh, covering 2.5 hectares of land and employing some 6,000 people, its owner, Kith Thieng, told Reuters on Tuesday.

Kith Thieng, whose business interests include hotels, fast food restaurants, a mobile phone operator and stakes in a bank and television station, said he wanted to help Cambodia's entertainment sector rebound after the global economic crisis.

"Most gamblers will be Vietnamese but my goal is also to attract people from other countries," he said. "I want to promote the fact that Cambodia has enough places for entertainment."

Tourism is the impoverished country's second-biggest earner after its agriculture sector.

Cambodia generated revenues of $19 million from its 29 casinos in 2008, according to Finance Ministry data.

That fell to $17 million last year, with the decline attributed to a fall in tourist arrivals and rising border tensions with neighbouring Thailand.

(For a Q+A on the dispute: [ID:nBKK17999])

Thais are a vital part of Cambodia's casino industry. Most forms of gambling are forbidden in Thailand, but thousands of Thais regularly visit massive casino complexes located along their shared border.

In a posting on the new casino's website (titankingcasino.com), Kith Thieng said Bavet was fast becoming a regional centre for entertainment "much like Las Vegas and Macau".

Hear Sopheaktra, an assistant to Kith Thieng, said the casino would list on the Cambodian stock market, which was due to open later this year. [ID:nBKK492057].

NagaCorp (3918.HK), is currently the only casino operator in Cambodia, with a licence to run any number of casinos within 200 km (124 miles) of Phnom Penh until 2065.

The company said last week it expected revenue in 2010 to grow by 30 percent as the global economy recovers, and forecast future growth would be driven by a surge in Chinese visitors. [ID:nTOE61906E] (Editing by Martin Petty)

Forget about Cambodia, forget about who's number
one and who's number two for now or for the next 1000
years. It doesn't matter what you are or who you are;
when you spend more then you are making you will
always be last..... ...it's just a matter of time. Laos is no
exception.

Laos can't be owned by both Chinese and Vietnamese.  It's either one or the other.  You can't have 2 dominant alpha male lions in one pride.
The Chinese are gaining ground fast and eventually they'll be the winners.
