Lao people don't have any choice and opportunity like the the rich Chinese but farmers and cheap labors in the streets and try to survive day by day to fimd food in the farms and rivers. Education is the key so how much money does the government invest in Lao people on education. As we could see south Korea, Singaporeand Austria invested heavily in education and trained their people and turn their people to become professional and skill workers who could be the back bone of the nation and the countries.
Because Lao Nok like to leave Laos and become cheap labors in the state, that's why the Chinese people come to do business in Laos instead.
There is no Lao nork before . They were lao like you and were the victims of the violent and war . You must stop blaming and pointing finger and start to understand and try to resolve the problem instead of provoking the fight between brothers and try to prevent and protect the right of Lao people.

if poster is talking about small shop around the street in Vientiane or other province in Laos. i am pretty sure they are not rich Chinese that's why they come to Laos to find a opportunity and they found it Laos is the place where they earn since Lao people don't know how to do business.
if poster talking a big investment such as cement, sun paper or steel and other industry in Laos. " i can tell you guys that it is called " go out strategy " of Chinese enterprises , because they can't earn as much in china.

Sure that are not too rich Chinese but Lao Chinese to compare to the majority of poor Laotian in the countryside and remote area still better than them. That is no problem with the Chinese to open business and china town in Laos . Chinese and Vietnamese are people and also could be very good people as well . But to control and to protect Lao culture and identity of Lao to exist on earth the government must be very careful and limit and control so Laotian would not be the minority of our country and make sure to teach all the Vhinese and Vietnamese kids in Laos to love and loyal to Laos. As I had said in other topic that Thai government has done very good job in teaching Thai Chinese and Esan to be loyal to Thailand and the king of Thailand and not allow any Chinese school to be built and taught in Thailand. Laos should look at this issue carefully for the survival of Laos .

Cheap labor? I'm highly skilled and earning a decent living - $81,000 a year plus best conditions of service you'll find any where in the world (well not quite).

Every laotians who has the chance to go out abroad should take advantage of it. Beside broadening the horizon one can also see and learn how the rest of the world is functioning. See anything that's good bring it back and reapplie in our own life and our own country...who know you mgiht enjoy it. But for those that you called "LAONORK" they left the country not because they wanted to but they have to. It's very hard to explained it you have got to lived it to understand it.

If you have change and go to the US or abroad so you could learn something new and have a look and compare the wage in the US and any other countries in the world that US is not cheap labor even the minimum wage ( $7.75 per hour) still much better than Chinese workers who earn $ 3 dollars or less per day.

Before Laos did not have the problems that there were too many Vietnamese and Chinese were in Laos . Now millions of Chinese and Vietnamese are living in Laos and will be more every day. 3 decades ago only Thai Esan went to Vientiane to work as construction workers and taxi driven , street hard labours and maid in almost the Lao people houses and Suam Lor in Vientiane but today hundred of thousand Laotian went to Thailand to work and some became cheap slavery labour and prostitutes in Thailand . Only a little bit over 3 decades of peace that is no more war and why things turn around and not much have been changed and developed . Old government build and school are still there not much improve from the former regime same as the Monument and That Luang. Laos is frozen in time of development for 3 decades. It is too slow to join WTO and too slow to developed .

every thing you've said were very accurate, if more people have come to realization in this kind of truth instead of blaming & accusing one another and be more united and open minded of sharing & accepting ideas from one another inspite of our political differences our country could have been improving in a faster pace than how it ever was. In order to began the journey of this rough & bumpy roads, it is very crustal that the practice of corruptions need to be heighten to its minimal as possible since it is a common practice among those high ranking officials as we all know they're the roots of the problems that has plagued many countries &societies. This kind of sacrifice that has to be obligated among the high ranking officials & their superior.

How could any Laotian have done it ? Becuase Laos is still Vietnam colony according to this information.
By 1975 Laos had fallen into the hands of the communists and it remains a communist country today. Over the next 15 years Laos remained closely allied to the Vietnamese. Though not officially, to all extents and purposes Laos had become a Vietnamese colony and was slowly forced to relinquish its economic connections with neighbouring countries. However, 1989 saw a relaxation of these restrictions and by 1997 Laos had become a member of the ASEAN
Interesting....to the person that said " Bcoz Lao-nork leave the country to bcome a cheap labor in the US."; Let me point out something here. 1st of all, most ppl who came here in the US has to start out in low wage at first to support their lives, bcoz we're not born rich OK? it's not just Lao-nork, could be from anywhere in the world. I too have to work at low wage while in school and now making a decent living with the good condition of working environment and no boss looking at you all the time. We left the counrty of Lao bcoz we have to. Yu have to live in that situation to understand it. If yu stay in Lao, yu will never understand how they live in America. We had the opportunity, and we took it. We don't want to be so-called " Frog in the well, never seen the ocean".; And yu, how old are yu? yu wouldn't understand if yu were born after 1975 or so. Secondly, we're not working as cheap labor forever, so stop blaming & pointing finger to other ppl for a better of all Laotian and Lao as a country to move forward. Last of all, Lao-nork has better opportunity to improve our lives, to broaden our brains, educations etc.; had we stayed in Lao, good luck if we gonna ever see that, only the kids of samasik puk can and could use their powers above the law. Perhaps, they don't have the laws. I rest my case...................
Those Lao words sign on the top suppose to say Mini-mart, not Mini-Mark. That's pretty bad if you can't write in Lao.
Not only one, look at both signs they are the same then again both look similar maybe from same sign writer or you can imagine the way people pronoun it with Chinese accent "MI NI MAK" ...

You are right, there is another one on the back.
Thats exactly how it should be written... if you are writting in Lao.

I am confused NangDarling. I knew my Lao language a little, but I don't think that's how you write Mini-mart in Lao. Unless, it's suppose to be a joke or in CHinese accent like Ed said.
