I don't think those cities are major city like Saigon and Hanoi.

Hanoi is the major city already? It's the capital right? I've been there twice and everything I thought I was in China and anyway, Hanoi is just a big slum city in South East Asia same as the Philippines.

But Vietnamese boys are quite handsome and I can get them with only Dong 100,000

Now come on , you turn the economy subject to homosexual conduct. So don't change the subject sorry Thailand economy was not moving since Thaksin was kicked out of from the office. During Thaksin was in the office that was the truth that Thailand was more advantages and more ahead than Vietnam . Since The coup and the airport was shut down . a lot of the investors such as Japanese companies and the United States ans south Korea turned around and invest in Vietnam . There are more import to the United states and European Union from Vietnam ever. Thailand military coup has destroyed the Thailand economy and frozen the development so give the Vietnam a lot of opportunity to find more and investors who used to invest in Thailand. It won't take long for Thailand to destroy herself. Vietnam was destroyed and suffered by the war for many decades but Vietnam is on the way to  recovery. Now Thailand is going to face the  civil war and disaster which no one would like to see. Even Vietnam still hope not to see that happen because it would affect every body in the region.

That all Thailand is about! Sex, Ladyboy, 90% of their tourist go to Thailand for Sex!
Loves Farang too much!

Now many tourist turing to Vietnam for sex tours as the hookers both men and women (sex with pre-teen also coming popular among tourists) it more cheappest and cheapper than Thailand 100 times.

In Laos as well, mainly in Vientiane & Laung Prabang and sometime you may find even cheappest hookers from China

If you think 90% of their tourist go to Thailand for Sex! I don't know that how's your mother giving birth of you? How high of education that your mother can efford to pay for you? You sound's like a frog in coconut shell that don't know about the world outside.

How about your mother how many farang guys have she sleep with?

Thailand: The World's Sex Tourism Capital

BANGKOK, Thailand --Imagine standing naked under flashing lava-red disco lights and gyrating to blaring techno music before dropping to the ground, splaying your legs like a starfish, and using your pelvic muscles to pop a dozen ping-pong balls out of your vagina for the amusement of giddy, affluent, and intoxicated foreigners. Now imagine shoving live turtles into your vagina and dancing around a pole before ejecting the turtles into an aquarium (“Wow, the turtles can still swim!”)Imagine repeating the same act with, say, a large frog or bagful of goldfish. Welcome to Bangkok, Thailand’s Red Light District.

Unlike brothels or strip clubs, “Ping Pong Shows” do not lure clients through promises of sexual arousal, but promises of sexual perversion — if not sexual torture. They offer freak shows where women’s bodies are reduced to grotesque objects exploited for tourists’ entertainment.

Thai women who have lost their jobs in villages during the economic downturn often travel to cities such as Bangkok for work and are hired not as sex entertainers, but circus animals. These shows are inherently misogynistic; after all, there is no equivalent of a "ping pong show" for men, in which they use their anal muscles to pop out frogs and pull out razors.

One older woman with a scar across her belly from a c-section confides after her performance at a Ping Pong Show, “I don’t like being here, I feel dirty.” She adds, “I left my village when my factory closed.”Nobody knows when, exactly, Ping Pong Shows began, but they’re increasingly raunchy and dangerous as tourists’ threshold for shock increases. One Bangkok organization, EMPOWER, even instructed women in bar prostitution how to insert and pull out razor blades from their vaginas, according to Melissa Farley, Executive Director of Prostitution Research & Education. "This is understood to be a job requirement in the bar-show setting where tricks are sexually excited by the possibility of the genital mutilation of Thai women," notes Farley.

The vast economic disparities between Thai locals and Thailand’s tourists have long enabled affluent foreigners to request massages with “happy ending specials” or “rent a girlfriend/boyfriend” for a holiday. Now, the global economic crisis has spawned new, dangerous ways of objectifying, commoditizing, and demeaning women. Thailand’s sex tourism industry is more risqué, less regulated, and more dangerous than ever before.

Thailand’s tagline is “Land of Smiles,” a beach paradise full of lithe coconut trees lazily swaying under a lapis lazuli sky. But, who’s smiling and who’s wincing in pain? This is a story of destitute Asian women subjecting themselves to extreme degradation for the guffaws of affluent Western benefactors. This is a story where the messy intersection of class, race and sexuality are taken to their disturbing logical extremes.Behind the brothels posing as massage parlors and strip clubs is a painful story involving women trafficked from Burma, minors exploited by pimps, and global economic disparities that force women to sell their bodies.

While many variations of Ping Pong Shows exist around the world, the prevalence of such shows across Thailand — a tourism hotspot for Westerners — makes this story especially worthy of exposure.North Americans comprise 25% of sex tourists in the world and are directly complicit in economically supporting this industry — an industry that often involves prepubescent girls — so this story is largely about our own responsibility.

Thailand is often called “Disneyland for pedophiles” and has up to 600,000 AIDS cases. The huge sex-for-sale industry is driven not only by Australian, European, and American tourists but also a large number of East Asian tourists from Thailand's richer neighbors, especially Japan. The number of prostitutes in Thailand ranges from 800,000 to 2 million,  20%  of whom are 18 or younger. U.S. citizens traveling abroad to exploit minors can be held responsible under U.S. laws; however, neither U.S. laws nor international human rights declarations address the culpability of tourists engaging in sexual voyeurism and exploitation of women in the so-called Land of Smiles.

Soon Vietnam will beat Thailand because Thailand economy and development have been frozen since Thaksin was kicked out from the office.

Vietnam's Economic Growth Accelerates
As country makes switch from agriculture to industry, growth surges but difficulties persist
Vietnam posted a gross domestic product increase of 7.2 percent last year, the figure is an increase from 7 percent in 2002 and is the fastest since 8.2 percent in 1997.

The growth is the fastest in Southeast Asia but it still trails China, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand when they were at similar stages of development. For example, Guangdong Province in China had a growth rate of 25 percent when it made the transition from agricultural to industrial.

Vietnam's growth is underpinned by the industrial and construction sectors which account for 40 percent of the economy. The service industry makes up 38 percent of the economy and it grew 6.6 percent in 2003, about the same as the previous year. Agriculture, forestry and fisheries, which account for the remaining 22 percent of the economy actually expanded only 3.2 percent, down from 4.1 percent in 2002.

Vietnam's economic expansion was led by exports of apparel to the United States which increased more than three times in the first 10 months of 2003 compared to the same period in 2002.

Vietnam has denied a complaint that it is selling shrimp in the United States at below cost, by stating that US producers are not competitive. An American trade group filed a complaint with the Commerce Department and the US International Trade Commission last week.

It is also locked in a battle over the export of catfish to the United States. American domestic producers allege that Vietnam is dumping catfish on the US market at below production cost. The Americans also maintain that the Vietnamese 'catfish' are not even true catfish but another species, altogether.

Looking ahead, Vietnam's economic progress in the coming year and beyond will largely rest on its ability to attract foreign investment. This situation puts its in the same boat as other ASEAN countries. They will have to go head-to-head with China in attracting increased amounts of foreign direct inv

For me, I'm sill thinking that Vietnam is still poor country. B'cos Vietnam have no their own signature culture and being sub Chinese culture later than its own.

In the eye of high culture like Laos, I think Vietnam is more like to cheating you in every way.

Don't forget that Vietnam is Chinese and Chinese can not be trust as well as Vietnamese

For Thai people, Vietnam is still poor and far from civilization which worse than Laos or Cambodia at least Cambodia and Laos has its own culture and traditions

Look back in the history Vietnam was colonized by the Chinese for a very long time and then by the French . Vietnamese picked the roman alphabet from the French to be their Alphabet unlike Lao and Cambodia. Cambodia and Laos have our own Alphabet . But the Vietnamese economy is growing fast. Vietnamese takes a lot of advantages from Laos in any way when ever they have the opportunity .

So funny! Vietnam is poor because of our culture is chinese??? it make no sense to me. I'm poor because my culture is Chinese. What a joke? How about Singapore, they've Chinese culture and they are the wealthiest country in SEA. Look at the world best country, U.S.A, they also don't have their own culture even language. I thought Thailand is wealth country. In fact, people talk like they never go to school to learn. Vietnam poor because i have Chinese culture. biggrin

10 million Thai Chinese in Bangkok but Thailand taught them well to loyal to Thailand and the king. Vietnamese adult Chinese culture as the Vietnamese new year . Just talk about he fact that Vietnamese is heading for 100% capitalism and Vietnamese economy growth is very fast in few years Vietnam will be ahead of Thailand for sure. Thailand economy go from good to worst since Thaksin was kicked out from the office . The Thai development has been in pause and frozen in time and Thailand might face the civil war in the future and also has to deal with the Muslim terrorists who have been terrorizing the Thai citizen in the southern part of Thailand . The Thai military coup and unstable government  whom the foreign investors lost the confident and the yellow shirt who shut down the airport scared the tourist and foreign investors away. During Thaksin Thailand economy was unbeatable by Vietnam.

The economy of Thailand is an emerging economy which is heavily export-dependent, with exports accounting for more than two thirds of gross domestic product (GDP) The exchange rate is Baht 33.00/USD.

Thailand has a GDP worth 8.5 trillion Baht (on a purchasing power parity (PPP) basis), or US$627 billion (PPP). This classifies Thailand as the 2nd largest economy in Southeast Asia after Indonesia. Despite this, Thailand ranks midway in the wealth spread in Southeast Asia as it is the 4th richest nation according to GDP per capita, after Singapore, Brunei and Malaysia.

It functions as an anchor economy for the neighboring developing economies of Laos, Burma, and Cambodia. Thailand's recovery from the 1997–1998 Asian financial crisis depended mainly on exports, among various other factors. Thailand ranks high among the world's automotive export industries along with manufacturing of electronic goods.

Most of Thailand's labor force is working in agriculture. However, the relative contribution of agriculture to GDP has declined while exports of goods and services have increased.[1]

Tourism revenues are on the rise. With the instability surrounding the recent coup and the military rule, however, the GDP growth of Thailand has settled at around 4-5% from previous highs of 5-7% under the previous civilian administration, as investor and consumer confidence has been degraded somewhat due to political uncertainty.

The incumbent elected civilian administration under Samak Sundaravej in power from January 29 to September 9, 2008 stated that the economy will have grown by 5.5% to 6% by the end of 2008. Due to rising oil and food prices, the annual inflation rate for 2008 shot up to 9.2% in July; a 10-year high, but it will unlikely reach double digit rates later this year as oil and food prices are stabilizing.

No big deal I have been in Hanoi , Ho Chi Minn city and Bangkok so don't any one dare to fool me. Vietnam is in progress of developing and not well developed yet and a lot of work have been working on right now and Vietnam is the second economy growth in southeast Asia. Thailand economy was very good but since the coup Thai economy is bad and the development is moving very slow but Thailand economy and education and development are still better than Vietnam today but only a few years Vietnam will be  catch up and perhaps be ahead of Thailand unless Thailand resolve the internal political problems and avoid the civil war .

I have a story to remind everyone here about Lao-Thai relation, the way that the Thai see and think about lao and laosin in the past that might happen once more in the future that we have to be always on alert to cope with difficulties that may occur financially or politically :

Path to confagration fifty years of diplomacy and warfare.
In 1827, the decisive war against the lao and the systematic displacement of population from the est bank of the Mekong River that followed it furnished Bangkok with an abundant manpower. In 1866 after the fall of the Kingdom of Vientiane, Louis de Carne still observed “ Great rafts ( bearing) herds of slaves” floating down the Mekong River and band of slaves trudging along the dusty trail.
The traffic of slaves permanently depressed the Lao economy and the losses worsened with the passage of time its consequences were catastrophic and virtually irreparable for many generations. The penerial underdevelopment of laos and the physical apprearence of the lao population were the most visible results of the slave trade Jean Renaud observed..
Since a long time previous ( the lao) best elementhad been killed or reduced to slavery, this explained the puny aspect of the indigenes observed our first explorers. This dark past ( invation, enslavement, massive transfer of population... explained somewhat surprising distribution of this population : they had fled the best soil that was most accessiblewhere raids were fatal to seak refuge in the high valleys, the forests where they felt more secure, they had regressed as well from the cultivating stage to the stage of gathering money.

9. THE CUPTURE OF LAO INTERNATIONAL TRADE.
In the year preceding the holocaust of 1827 as Siam achievements gained momentum not only where lao land and people progressively swallowed by Bangkok and its proxies but lao trades as well . The war of 1827 was the culminating of the prolonged commercial struggle that Bangkok ang Khorath authorities, eager to monopolize Laotian goods and trade was waged against Chao Anou and the lao since 1814 DGE. Hall remaked.

THE FINAL SOLUTION 1827 -- -1828.
BUT Anou’s fervent effort to reunite laos and repel Siam were doomed to fail. Fifty years after Taksin quonquer laos , the thai marched into Vientiane once more, this time the lao capital was raze to the grownd , allowing only grass, water and savage beaststo remain...This genocide of an entire people remained a viratable nightmare for its few survivors after Jules Hermand interviewed them in 1880 he called it “ la Grande guerre” Generally Chao phraya Bodinthondesha’s name is associated with the brutality, the subdued people dared call him only by the simle title Chao Kun (Chao is princely rank granted to tributary ruler by Bangkok...

Dong devaluation barely cures Vietnam's woes

HANOI (Reuters) - Vietnam risks getting stuck in a cycle of currency devaluations unless it matches its foreign exchange measures with policies to bring inflation under control and effectively limit the growing trade deficit.

Inflation is creeping higher once again and the trade deficit is expanding, undermining official efforts to draw U.S. dollars being hoarded by Vietnamese back into circulation and so reduce a drain on foreign currency reserves.

The State Bank of Vietnam on Thursday devalued the dong by 3.25 percent and imposed a cap on dollar deposit rates. It was the third devaluation since December 2008, bringing the central bank's daily reference rate down by a total of more than 11 percent in just over a year.

Bui Kien Thanh, a former government adviser, said neither measure addressed the underlying need for broader policy changes.

"The State Bank foreign exchange reserves will shrink further and the State Bank will be forced to take further action to defend dong parity," he said.

"There will be no end to this vicious circle. A new approach and a new monetary policy are necessary to blow new life into the economy, instead of rearguard actions and negative regulations."

The dong is managed in a trading band and has been under persistent pressure to depreciate for nearly two years as the economy overheated and then weakened during the global financial crisis.

Vietnam will have another currency devaluation in the nesr future because of huge trade deficit, too high inflation and too low international reserves.
