New York, Feb 18 (ANI): Americans are the laziest people on the planet, according to a new survey.

The Daily Beast survey took into consideration daily calorie intake, TV viewing habits, percentage of the population that plays sports and Internet usage, reports the New York Post.

Out of those four categories, the US was first in calories and watching the most TV - enough for the top spot.

The Canadians came second after leading the planet in Internet usage.

Belgium, a nation known for its waffles, beer and pomme frittes, stood third while Turkey landed the fourth spot.

The last in the survey was Switzerland since its people spend the least amount of time in front of the TV of all the 24 countries on the list.

The top five laziest countries are:

1. US

2. Canada

3. Belgium

4. Turkey

5. Great Britain (ANI)

They don't have to get their asses  out to work so hard like they used to 50 years ago. As we know , working hard it doesn't take you any where but working smart it will take you some where (working with the brain). They are working in the offices with the computers and phones and dealing to their customer around the world not like Laotian are working in the farm and in the street and factories. They are the investors  , they party all year work only few hours per day and travelling in private jet and have lunch in New York and go to orchestra in California in the evening. Good life....

Those are the rich people for normal and regular people if they are lazy  and be late at work and don't perform a good on job then they are not going to have a jobs. They move fast against time. Time is money. Some American are working two jobs. Some student go to school during the day and work at night that what I used to do when I was in college. Some stores and super markets and factories open 24 hours so if the American are the most lazy that is OK  to work like the American .

The United States is the country that the factories are working 24 hours per day  all year around  unlike France and European Union . If they are the most lazy , so Laotian should work the same way they work  Laos will be OK specially the government officials in Laos.

The American is the world laziest that it is not true. If you said the most over eating and over weight and  over work and not enough exercise then you are right because the American are working too much and don't have time to work out or go to the gym and they are getting fat and over weight because after spending 8 hours in front of the computer or in the office and even working in the factories driving heavy machinery then after work ,they eat junk food  and watching TV and relax and watching base ball, football ....etc and too tired to exercise and then they are getting heavy specially the American women.

The United States: The Land of 8.9 Million Millionaires

The United States has often been referred to as the only country in the world with a million millionaires. Recent figures show that this number is actually much higher. Dr. Bill Belew of PanAsianBizreports that the U.S. has 8.9 million households worth at least 1 million dollars. This is compared to China with 300,000 millionaires and Russia with 88,000.

The millionaires are the prime movers of the economy; they are the Atlases that hold it up and fuel its progress through vast investments. Russia and China both have a rising class of millionaires-- and Russia has 3 times more millionaires per capita than China. This is promising for both countries' economic future-- which will be beneficial for the rest of the world as well, as it will result in increased exports of valuable goods and services from these countries.

Yet this news should also allay fears about the United States losing its "competition" with dynamic developing countries like China. The United States outnumbers China by a factor of about 30 in the absolute number of its millionaires and by more than 100 in the number of millionaires per capita. Chinese millionaires are prospering, but they will have to do from 30 to 100 times better to even possibly catch up with the United States! Americans have no reason for fearing their country's displacement from the position of the number-one economic power in the world.

America will not lose because of globalization; trade with the Western world has helped aspiring entrepreneurs in Russia and China become millionaires. Trade with Russia and China could help more aspiring American businessmen become millionaires as well. What is good for the millionaires is good for everyone else-- if their money was earned through honest work and commerce, not coercion or political exploitation

Most people that are replied to this subject are misunderstood what the article is all about.

The article wasn't talking about American being lazy at work place what the article was saying that most Americans are being lazy at activities, meaning they don't like to go outside play sports or any outdoors activities... they're just to watch more TV shows and eat more that is why we rank #1 in the world for being fattest nation.

Americans are the most hard working people in the world bar-none....

Well you should read the details of an article, not just the topic of headlines. People misunderstood because they don't read it they just replied to what they're seeing what the topic is reading?

That's not true!  US has one of the Western world's worst working conditions of service.  They've one the least recreational leave per year.

That is a very interesting survey result. What's more interesting is that the laziest lot comes from most of the world's richest nations too. Wealth is easily equated with laziness.

Well , that is weird suvey but it is the truth.

1 Billion cans a day

I know that at least 1 Billion cans of Coke are drunk daily in the world...

That doesn't include the plastic and glass bottles!

I'd say that since Coca-Cola is the most popular drink in every country of the world (bar Scotland where Irn Bru is the most popular - Coke being second) there will be a heck of a lot of people drinking Coke each day.

Check out their website - I'll probably have the answer. www.coke.com

Only a few region in the world where Coca Cola isn't the primary soft drink, of which being the most famous is Quecbec, Canada, where they are outsold by Pepsi

Laos is landlocked  and need the money so Laos needs more foreign aid  money to help the poor people to be out of poverty , to build roads , railroads ,bridges, airport , school and hospital for the sick... So  Foreign aid is better than loans because the government don't have to pay back. It is a win win situation for Lao government  to get all of them for free who could turn them down  specially from the Chinese and the Chinese will spend billion to build China town in Vientiane and also the Vietnamese will invest 1 billion dollars to build the golf course and 5 stars hotel in Vientiane.  Because no body else will help Laos like the Chinese and Vietnamese. The Chinese and Vietnamese love Laos so don't be jealous. No body else will help Laos like the Chinese and the Vietnamese that is the reason why the government give them a lot of right for the Chinese and Vietnamese to be in Laos than Lao Nork who have done nothing for the country but criticising .

Lao Americans are jealous? You only wish that is true! No, we're just afraid that you guys will not have a land to live and not gonna be as lucky as we were, bcuz America and many other countries are no longer excepting refugees, and if the Chinese & Vietnamese care so much about Laos as you said then why is it they kept  open up all this businesses / company and yet , they have no interest in  hiring or train the locals to become skillful and employ in their company instead of have millions of their own people resettled in Laos and work in their company if they so much care for Lao people. Knowing that Lao government is lack of fund in this area. On top of that why even opened casino when they didn't even wanted to open in their own land and ruin their own people . I do not call this is an act of concerned at all especially they were so comfortably trashing other people's land / country rather than their own. I called it taking an advantage or killed 2 birds with one stone is quite plain and simple!no
