$105m invested in hydropower in Laos

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) to build feasible study and develop Nam Mo 1 hydropower project was signed by International EVN Joint Stock Co's general director, Nguyen Thanh Huan, and Laos deputy minister of planning and investment, Thongmi Vongvisay in Vientiane, Laos on March 4.

The Nam Mo 1 hydropower project with total investment capital of $105 million and an estimated capacity of 62 MW will be built in Xieng Khuang province.

As signed MoU, the project is expected to be finished after 18 months of construction.

We should not blame only China for building a big dam in Mekong river upstream.
Look at ourself, we allow too many foreign countries to buid many small dams along the Mekong tributaries and we want to be the battery of asia. When all the water could not flow to the Mekong, this add up to the dry of Mekong river this year.

Yes, we can be the battery, but we will have no water to use. Which one will you choose?
