I don't believe in momey as motivation. Acknowledge the good effort and set regular home study time instead. And show your child you love him or her. Good luck.

If I may add to some of the comments that already made.  Everything start with the parents, both must be there for school/outside school activities as well.  If the parents are too busy gambling, drinking and don't be expecting the kids to be studying.  From what I've seen whether is in Laos or U.S., lao parents doesn't spend enough quality times with their children.

It is true, when it comes to the expectation for your kids to do well in school, it really depends on how you relate to your kids, and as a dedicated parents my husband and I pay close attention to our three kids of making sure they eat well balance meals, the kind of friends they hang around with, try to help them with their home work even though it might not be the most fun thing to do or you might not know half of the thing that's in their home work.  Believe me, the out come of it will be quite rewarding for not only both parents, but also your kids as well.

Right now all of my three kids are in  high honer rolls and my oldest one is in his first year of college and still maintain his high honer roll status.  The nicest thing is his excellent GPA scores really helped saved on our auto insurance as a male driver under the age of 25 yrs.The saving on our auto policy started ever since he started driving from the age of 16 yrs  until now. Generally speaking, as you may know how incredibly expensive it is to have your son included on your auto mobile policy, so it  is in a way a win win situation, if you think about it.
