RoK gives 3.3 bln kip to secure food for the poor
(KPL) The Republic of Korea government has provided 3.37 billion kip or US$ 400,000 to the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare to purchase rice for the poor the north and southern Laos.
The handover of the assistant package took place at Thangone Warehouse (KM-17), Saythany district, Vientiane on Mach 31. The package was presented by representative of the United Nations World Food Programme, Ms. Karin Manente, to Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare of Laos, Mr. Laoly FaipengYoa, at the witness of the Republic of Korean Ambassador to Laos, Mr. Lee Gun-tae and relevant officials.
�This assistance is important for enabling the World Food Programme and its partners to access held to the poor and this amount of money will be used on buying rice for the poor in provinces who have been affected from natural disaster and have their cash crops destroyed by insects,� said UN World Food Program (WFP) ambassador in charge, Jang Dong Gun.
