I'm just wondering about the visa on arrival fee for the 20 countries that were listed. How did the Lao government determine the pricing? Out of the 20 countries Canadians passport holder Paid the most $42 and Amercians pay one of the least. Why is that? We never gone to war with your country or bombed your country in the "secret war" lol. Strange to me.
from your country to visa in laos very cheap . from laos visa to your country cost more then $42 . here how much cost for lao people to get visa visite in USA. The Nonimmigrant visa application processing fees will increase on June 4, 2010 and will be tiered Visa Fees/Payments: The application (Machine Readable Visa or MRV) fee for a U.S. nonimmigrant visa is $131. The fee must be paid in cash to the Consular Cashier and is non-refundable. There may be an additional reciprocity fee of $40 or $80 for the issuance of certain student or business visas to Lao nationals. Any such additional fees must be paid in cash to the Consular Cashier before a visa will be issued. A receipt will be provided for all payments to the Consular Cashier

Laos is the most heavily bombed country in history. U.S. Vietnam War-era bombings from 1964-1973 left nearly half of Laos contaminated with vast quantities of unexploded ordnance (UXO). Over 34,000 people have been killed or injured by UXO in Laos since the bombing ceased. Here are some other startling facts about the U.S. bombing of Laos and its tragic aftermath:
260 million cluster bombs were dropped on Laos during the Vietnam War (210 million more bombs than were dropped on Iraq in 1991, 1998 and 2006 combined); close to 78 million did not detonate.
During the bombing, the equivalent of a planeload of bombs was dropped every eight minutes, 24 hours a day for nine years.
More than half of all confirmed cluster munitions casualties in the world have occurred in Laos.
Each year there continue to be over 300 new casualties in Laos. Close to 40% of the accidents result in death, and 33% of the victims are children.
Over the past 15 years, the U.S. provided on average $2.7M per year for UXO clearance in Laos; the U.S. spent $2M per day for nine years bombing Laos.
When calculated in today’s dollars, the U.S. spent more in three days bombing Laos ($51M) than it has spent for clean up in the last 15 years ($40M).
Nearly 40 years on, only a fraction of these munitions have been destroyed

are you stupid or what? read between the line you idiot. I know that Laos is the most heavy bombed country in the world. But was CANADA involve in the "secret war" and Bomb LAOS? NO The USA Did. SO i clearly made a statement that it is strange that CANADIAN passport holder Pay more on a visa on arrival than US passport holder.
The reason Canadian pays more for the visa to Laos than the U.S. citizen is because Canadian dollar is cheaper than the U.S. dollar. Nothing else. Just like Laos' banknote Kip is cheaper than Thai Baht.

No the pricing on the arrival visa are all quoted in u.s dollars. you must pay in u.s currency. I don't know why Laos like to use U.S currency and Thai Baht but not it own kip. The Kip will never have value if stores and government in Laos don't prefer to use their own currency.
rich people they get visa to visite Canada Australia ,USA and THEY don't even think about to live in this country all because they pay to much damm tax ok

Last week i was upthere, our dollars only worth four Cents and a halve You can look it up at the Currency Trading or Foreign Exchange..so the reason why the Canadian pay more than American, Maybe the Canada's economy is better than U.S.A. 555. JUST KIDING BRO. I don't know the reason why..

100 of Lao people apply for the US visa and paid more than $42 per head but only 10 persons get the visa. So where the money go for?
US Embaasy is very good business to earn money from people around the world
Laogirl, have you ever heard of overhead? None of the Embassy is out there to make money. Not all applicants are accepted but, they still need to process the paperworks "no one will work for free"

It mentioned before they accept your visa that you need to buy the travel insurance first before going into US or EU and if you get sick, let's the travel insurance pay for it. If you don't buy, they don't issue the visa for you
