I'm also curious as to how many tanks Laos still operates. Wikipedia has a number, but I question its accuracy.Seeing that these archaic tanks would likely never see use. Infact, as these tank designs border 60/70 years, it is more of an embarrassment. Especially knowing that they are likely never to be used, they would be better off converted to tractors or amusement rides.

Nevertheless, I would love to see an upgrade of these archaic machines we are still using. With all the new rails and highways, internal security and counter-terrorist solutions should be addressed should the need ever arise. I'm never worried of a national war, so a conventional army tanks and artillery would probably be unnecessary, but something like light, mobile, tactical units would be perfect for Laos, and probably more cost effective. Besides, if there ever was a time that Laos actually needed heavy equipment, I'm sure Vietnam is itching to play with all their new toys.

Local people are very smart, they know how to disassembly the tank without going learning from school.
