Laos has $3 Billion foreign debt..

How they get so much in debt? I hope they use the money wisely to develop the country. Many country donate to Lao government. Is corruption play part in this because some government officials do have big house and drive nice car. But still not as bad as American though. US own $56,900,000,000,000. Its good business if you are a banker making all the money from interest.

When is Lao people going to live a better life like the rest of her neighbors? Laos need to catch up sooner or later. Or be over clouded by its vast populous neigbors in all corners.

Don't know how to earn the money, only know to spend and always depending on the handing out from the foreign countries ( foreign aid). Lack of the professional economists and bankers , traders and skill workers in almost every field after 1975 a lot of those skill people and traders were exile or had been sent to the concentration camp to die and a lot of the students abroad who are well educated never come back to develop the country. So that is the good opportunity for the Vietnamese and Chinese to indirectly rule Laos. Soon Lao will be the minority and a second class citizen of our own country. That is sad but it is the truth. I try not to talk evil , see no evil and hear no evil but your guys drag me into this conversation .

Yes I know what you saying Dark Angel, sad but true. I wish Laos the best. The problem is Laos was never free. We were alway under foreigner occupation and control. Laos is under Vietnam, they kept us poor so they can bring in their own people, and run the country.

If Lao government is smart enough. They should bring back Laotian oversea into Laos. This will help prevent Lao people from being second class citizen from its neighbors. Also from what I see now, Laos government is too dam slow to react such future issue that will hurt the Laos and its own people well being. Laos need a new reformed of the government since the old cannot handle such new idea and future statisic. Laos need stronger and smarter leadership, not old and slow minded leaders!

I seriously have to prepare to go to live in Laos one day (not yet, not yet.... but one day... probably).

In western country. You have to work until you are 62-65 or you can retire at 55 and move back to Laos, live a relax, simple good life and drink beerlao.

Lao government is working on that policy, and welcome back Lao expats to move back to Laos.

600 000 the salary for the govt officials who work for more than 10 years or the people who has higher education, what about the people who just start to work with the govt, they get payment 100 000 kip per month,man . no wonder, the govt official want to corrupt as long as they get a chance.
