Lao in Laos stop using the word Sawadee PEE Mai since 1975
Today no body in Laos say Sawadee Pee Mai any more only Sabai Dee Pee Mai. or Sawatdee and Aroon Sawad and Ratree Sawad any more. Before 1975 . Lao use to say Sawatdee then ask Pen Jendai Sabaidee bor ? Today very body say Sabaidee is Sawatdee and No more Aroon Sawad and Ratree Sawad any more. Sometime in order to understand , have to listen to the whole sentence ,not only one single word because the spelling is all the same. Also there are no body use the word R any more in Laos or pronounce the word R like Luang Prabang since 1975 specially in the language of the computer. No improving but losing valuable vocabulary since Lao professor ( Maha See La ມະຫາສີລາ ) family from Roi Et which is Thailand province today.
Do Lao people really know the truth who ( the name of the person) created Lao Alphabet ອັກສອນລາວ and ພະຍັນຊະນະ and ສຣະ from Ancient Khmer which came from India since the Buddhism became the national religion from ໂຕທຳ . For sure that was not the King Sukhothai Ramkhamhaeng who got all the credit for creating Thai Alphabet but not for Lao Alphabet which many people claimed that Lao copied from Thai that is not the truth. So who or which Lao king who created Lao Alphabet by copying from Ancient Khmer Alphabet which were original Indian Alphabet which is the dead language today just like Latin language in the Christian religion. No body speak the Latin language and no body speak ພາສາທຳ any more even in India. Most of religion languages and super nature language and words are dead language only a few people could read and write and understand the dead language such the Priest , monks or Witch and warlock.
not ມະຫາສີລາ also.

Of all the Lao great, no one is more of a humble origin than Maha SilaViravong a man from a peasant family Roi-Et in Isaan, the former Lao land of the once great Lan Xang Kingdom, and he moved from Roi-Et to Vientiane Laos with his parents since he was 12 months old.
To some of us who are used to only king and nobles as the Lao great, it will be quite unthinkable for them to admit or even realize that an ordinary person can be considered likewise. Anyway, the criteria of the great do not only apply to the line of descent but of great individual achievement as well. Moreover, what make Maha Sila Viravong quite spectacular stems from the fact that he is not only the common type like most of us from the other side of the Mekong who, despite of the Thai forcible assimilation, is still no less Lao than anyone of us born and raise in Laos.
If you ask me, what make Maha Sila Viravong stand out? I won't resort to status as we are accustomed to but his actual achievement in the field of history and language. Because of his works in those fields, Lao National History and Lao National Language had been taking shape and becoming a model for all Lao patriots to emulate. Just think that our country had been subjected to the foreign rules for over three decades. As a result, the development of our Lao Language had been stalled and stymied. More importantly, our people had no identity, no share vision and no share destiny. Only through Maha Sila Viravong devoted commitment to revive LanXang great in literature buried in the Thai National library and his painstakingly rewriting of Lao History, Laos as a nation state fully conscious of her role as a unique people and country came into the being.
Of course, there are many flaws in Maha Sila Viravong history book but still his pioneer work is more than anyone can ask for from a single individual-be it a scholar or a statesman. With that being said, his historical work on tracing our Lao roots for not only the great LanXang era but of the legendary Khun Borom hundreds or thousands of years before that is quite an intellectual achievement. What we are so proud of our Lao roots owe so much to Maha Sila Viravong. Even with this alone, he can bee elevated to one of Lao great - no less than Chao Fa Ngum, Chao Saysettha Dhiraj, Chao Anouvong and Chao Phetsarath. Adding his works on the standardization of the Lao written language and his promulgation of the great Lao literature, Maha Sila Viravong is a Lao our country and people should find the way to pay respect to.
After 75'e Lao language had been changed and couldn't be reached to meet with the foreign languages writing.
So sad.......
There were a lot more the people like Maha sila Viravong who were from Roi Et and other part of Esan but they were exterminated and assassinated like Tien Siri Kun .Some moved from Roi Et , Udon , KHon Kaen , Ubon or (Esan) to Vientiane after Laos gained the independent from France. Some new generation still showed in the YouTube before and during deadly protest for democracy in Bang kong last year. After Laos gained the independent without Maha Sila Viravong ( Kon Roi Et ), Lao written language could be like Vietnamese written language today which copied the French ( Roman ) Alphabet .

I don't think so......Lao had her own Ark-Sorn even before Thai's.
Ark-Sorn Lao had been created from Bali and Sansakrid in the era of King SouryaVongsa, later had been developed Lao language in the 18th century, and later in the 50's by Maha Sila Viravong to cut off all [ Tol Sakod ] and [ Tol hoy thay khong Pha-gnang ]. The old Lao writing and spelling was same as Phasa Thai today's.
Vietnam had to use the Roman alphabets instead of their original alphabets because they don't want follow Chinese steps. Vietnam had their own language and were using as same as Chinese alphabets like Japan and Korean. Vietnamese are hating Chinese took over their land and pushed them down south torch to south China sea that's why they created their alphabets from the Roman's.

You don't think so but that is the truth when the Lao history started to be recorded and written when Laotian people knew and had created the written language or it might just had to be told from father to son from generation to generation to know whom we are and who were our ancestor which we all were came that was Khun Borom who moved down from China. That is not the issue that Lao had our own Alphabet for hundreds of years before the French came that Lao copied the ພາສາທຳ which came with Buddhism and copied from Ancient Khmer. The fact was the French was the master and wanted to change that. The French even transferred the power to their loyal Laotian officers who were served them well instead to let the people who fought against them for independent to take over the office such as Jao Phetsarath. For the Alphabet , there was the debate over that but Lao culture and Buddhism are deep in their heart and it was easily won with majority of the people to give our culture and used our own Alphabet no copied the Roman Alphabet like French and Vietnamese. Then Maha Sila viravong and other started working hard to develop and improve the Lao written language . There are thousand of people who have the families and relatives both side of the Mekong river for thousand of years . Siamese and the French used the Mekong river to settle the border between Laos and Siam . Then later French took Champasak and Sayaboury and tried to get more but France was defeated by the NAZI ( Hitler ) and Hitler ( Germany) was the Japan ally . Also Siam was Japan ally . Japanese invaded French Indochina (Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos ) and also Malaysia and Burma with the help of Siam. Then Siam declared war to United States and Great Britain. When the war was over and the Japanese and Germany lost the war Siamese also celebrated with the allies. That might give you the idea how intelligent the Siam were by saving their black ass from the United States and Great Britain. And it was indeed Siam was lucky because of the cold war after the world war ll .So the United States need to have more countries in the world to be democracy and under the United States controlled. Thai allow the American to have US airbase in Udon which might have Nuclear weapon to surround China and Russia .

I saw some of his video in you tube couple years back and listened to his speaks and his songs and he seems to have a good root to be a good leader of Esan.
If he survives , he could be a very good Esan Leader ( Adisorn Piangket ) and could do a lot of good thing for the Esan people .He has a lot of similar ideas with a lot of good Esan leaders who had been exterminated and assassinated and executed in the past because they fought for the democracy and spoke out for their right to preserve and protect Esan people and Esan culture which run deep inside their blood , not to forget whom the Esan people really are.

There are many of Maha Sila Viravong children and grandchildren in Australia, and some of them are following his steps as the Lao language writer. I am always paying respect to him, without him our Lao language would be writing like Thai language.

Thai language is still better than Vietnamese and Chinese Languages which Lao have no difficulty to understand without going to Thai school . The vocabularies and culture and religion are similar unlike Vietnamese and Chinese which are totally different. Don't forget that Tai and Lao came from the same ancestor Khun Bourom. I understood that many Lao are up set that Siam had done to Lanxang . That was the past . Don't forget Burma , China , Vietnam and France had done to LanXang the same thing and most of all it was Laotian betrayed LanXang and the history repeating itself over again and again.

I, myself, have never blame at Siam invaded LaneXang and burned down ViengChanh, not once but twice, because of betraying of the kingdoms to the kingdoms.
I would blame Kingdom of Champasack, Luang-Prabang and Muong Phuan.
LaneXang had been defeated Burmese, Anamites ( Viet ) and Hor ( Chinese ) by many great of LaneXang's kings like: King Chao Lane Khamdeng defeated 30 thousand Vietnamese troops in Baan Meuinna Luang-rabang, King Sayasethathiraj defeated Burmese troops and pushed them back to deep of Burma's territory and he was also helped Siam king to defeat the other of Burmese occupied Siam and them Siamese king offered King Setha to marry with his only daughter, King Souryavongsa defeated Hoh ( Chinese troops ) black and red flags and sent them back to China.

We should learn from this Lao proverb:
PHEE HEUAN BOR DEE PHEE PAR SERK
PHEE PORP JORP KEEM KHON SOH
Why Champasak and Luang Prabang were loyal to Siam and betrayed Lanxang ? Why Laotian trust the foreigner and betrayed Laos ? Why Did Lao need Siamese, French or Vietnamese to rule and indirectly conquer Laos in order to store the peace ? Why Lao has to listen to the foreigners advises and comprise with their demands . The more I know about Lao History and the more am disappointed with Lao people who allowed these to happen. The problem is always the same , Lao killed Lao and brought the foreigner to be the master in order to stay in power and keep the peace. If the French did not take Luang Prabang and Champasak away from Siam .Perhaps Luang Prabang and Champasak will be exactly like Lanna and Esan today and no doubt about it.
