The last time I checked I don't remember seeing Vo Nguyen Giap involved in a multinational opium/heroin drug cartel leading a group of deranged hill tribes, sending his own people to die (for drug selling) thinly veiled as Hmong rights and "fighting for freedom" in an attempt to replace the main and rightful ethnic group of the nation with his own.

When North Vietnam won the war they could have easily ushered in millions of Viet into Laos and Lao would just be another ethnic group. Vang Pao's ultimate goals were to set up a racist state led by his own drug induced nomadic leaders and annex Lao land for his own doing. Not only did Vang Pao hate ethnic Lao he also hated the Khmu (something that most Meo do) they pushed around the Khmu and took their land away, and also introduced them to heroin/opium which ruined their tribe.

So while celebrating anyone dying isn't nice, I think its safe to say its a little better to celebrate a violent thug criminal warlord dying than someone who really dedicated their whole life to independence and freedom from imperialists.
