I want to explain this common Lao style breakfast to my foreign friends, but don't know how to call it in English.

In English, "fried dough fritters". In Chinese, "you tiao". It's a Chinese food, eaten with soya milk or porridge.

it's not chaokouay, chaokouay is voon dum

I had that in Vientiane. It had such a bland taste, but with ovaltine it was okay... still bland.

I like to eat that with kao piek, it's call pa tung koh in laos. In english maybe its called Fried Banana.

We called it "Lao French Bread". My parent made them all the time. It's good to eat them with "Tom kao piak", Ovaltine.
