Luxury garage in Luang Prabang
Permalink

It may be a bit disrespectful to call this splendid building a garage, but that is basically what it is. Inside is kept the funeral chariot that carried the late Laotian king Sisavong Vang in 1960.

This building in the city of Luang Prabang is found in the compound of Wat Xieng Thong, the Buddhist pagoda I showed here yesterday.

The picture was taken in 1973 and is scanned from a Kodachrome slide. The camera I used at that time was a Canon FT-QL.

Late King Sisavang Vong, not Sisavong Vang.

When I heard the story about how he died, I cried and cried. They killed him with the evil heart. He didn't deserve it. Our king was very generous and kind man that's how majority of Lao people get nice heart from him.  Other countries have thought of us as stupid people but it's o.k. We are believed in Buddha.  Theravada will take care of us.

You got confused. Sisawang Wong died long time ago and nobody killed.

If we love our culture,we must have king to live in Laung Prabang. If we pray for Theravada we must maintance our temple. If we love money, we must have good goverment.  This is just my opinion.

I've been in there.  It is located in Wat XiengThong.  If you take a closer look at that parked chariot,  those set tires were american made by "GoodYear". hahhaha I think I can dig up some old photo of the inside.

We aren't stupid but we are try to be, many of us are very smart and passionnate but we don't try to be good. we make up too many stories just to show off. and so we became stupid. Many foreigners like us very much but we don't like us that's why we look stupid. The king pass away several years before 1960, 1960 was only some kind of ceremony, you must be very young and you got the wrong info.. and yes he was good but he wasn't strong enough to hold the country together. Now it's to do anything for the lanexang, just let go. and no one understand what's a country anyway

The throne can just be restored, it must be earned and can be anyone who earn like  king Fagum or Xaysettha, or even like chao Anou. It can't like those who seat on the French warefare and so ignorant. They don't even know what's a royaume they may know what it is but they have no understanding.
like the english saying. If you only know and you don't understand then you got the right key to the faillure. They are waiting for the pathetloa to take them back, but I can tell keep dreaming and dreaming till they all pass away. Sorry but it's truth

You can call it the shed for keeping the carriage of the royal urns at Wat Xiengthong in Luang Prabang.
