(KPL) The National Assembly meeting last Thursday approved to decrease GDP slightly to 7.5 per cent, from 8 per cent due to the global financial crisis and global economic recession. __________________________________________
A better title would be 'lower GDP forecast to 7.5%'. Lower by 7.5% means 8% - 7.5% = 0.5%! (Nightmare for the Lao economy!) Lower to 7.5% means decrease from 8% to 7.5% (= lower by 0.5%).
It should be GDPforecast or prediction, because the government is giving an estimate for what they think Laos' GDP will be for the current financial year, which won't be over until April 2010...
To 'decrease GDP' means to cause the economy to slow down/cause the country earn less $$$...
