I don't know....I can say this is the most beautiful Buddhist Temple ever build on the earth at Wat Rong Khun in Chiang Rai province of Thailand.

The art and architecture is so unreal but it's real being. I can't believe my eyes that how people can make such the things so delecated, soft, artistic and meticulously

I really feel impressively. I wanted to go to watch it by my own eyes. My Mon gonna love to see it a lot.

When was your last time visit the temple whether to Tham Boon Tak-baht or follow your mom to the temple on the Buddhist holidays?

I guessed that many teens are in here hate to go to the temple or hate when your mom asking you to wake up early morning just to sit in front of your house and wait for offering foods to the monks. Don't you?

The temple looked over design and there is too many chinese influence on the structure.  How r u supposed to keep your own people tradition  original from the ancient architect from the past?  This temple is more then just an art work to attract foreigner on creative art temple design.

Can you explan what is too many Chinese influence in this temple? This temple is a private buddhist temple and the owner is well known artist and he build by his own design and his money to donated to be the buddhist temple due to the ancient believed that if you build the temple like making merrit you will go to the heaven after you pass away. The road to the heaven concept

You seem not like Lao or Thai people as you said in the comment like that.

I have been looking in every details of the pictures, I never even see anything about Chinese. You just bullshi t

Poh Kuu Chalermchai Kositpiphat is my idol for the new artist. His works is so pretty in high quality. This temple is dedicated his heart and money to build this temple and ofcause he have to bring a lot of tourist to visit as he need lots of money from donation to continuing to built and for maintainance. He said he have to built it to complete in next 90 years ahead even he may die first but his students will continue doing after him.

This temple looked exactly the same as in his painting of Phutha Sinlapa or The Art of the Buddhism

The artist doesn't accept any donation. He wants people to buy his work so he can use the money to build the temple.

blehI never said I like or dont't like THailand or laos,  And my reply never came close to that subject.    Put I was talking about the arhchitect structure and design is all Chinese creative art period.  In my opinion the temple is just an "ART" nothing religious about the art formation on the structure.  And looking at the temple also and resemble other original temple in thailand this one seem more chinese of the dragon and design concept period.

If think this is the dragon or Thai-Lao Naga ( The King of Snake ) is wrong!!!

This is the Garuda & the wings of Garuda. Garuda is the King of Bird. Thai-Lao using to built their gable end in this style. It's replesent the vehicle of the Narai God

And this is Phya Hong which mainly using for decoration in Lanna Northern Thai Style. Hong is kind of bird living in Himmaphan Forest in Kailas Mountain in Hindu & Buddhist Epics

This is the Naga, the King of Snake which is popular in Lao, Thailand, Burma and Cambodia only.

Chinese Style Dragon is using in China, Tibet, Korea, Japan & Vietnam

We can not say which one is the most beautiful one. I heard thatthe Shwedagon Stupa was build by bloody story as the King has to killed many people from saking other Kingdoms like Bagan, Chiang Rung, Mohn, Lanna, Ayothaya etc which they took gold & jewelry back to the city as you have seen the gold at this temple.

P.S. : Chinese Dragon has 4 legs but Naga doesn't have legs at all

Now that's what I called original temple for worshiping buddha!aww   If u go to thailand all I see is "Art"work and design is way off from the original design and it look over makeup in most temple in Thailand.  Its very upseting because its not a true temple like those ancient ones that was constructed by the ancient ppl.

I don't think laos and thailand are the same.no   The only thing is similiar and stop claiming laos temple and creature is the same it only seem to you because most of those creature are stolen and recreated into a more Thai culture and tradition.  And I thought topic about Laos and Thailand was over, Where is the webmaster??????!

I would like to say that I been reading alot on Thai chat forum and had some talked on Thai and Lao temple in the past.  It seem to me most thai don't no nothing about laos and become very ignorent about thai and laos issue espicially history and culture!!  Most believe Laos are nothing and left in the dust as poor unhealhy education and much more.  So I ask why would thai think this way?  Acouple reply because we been known that way from many generation on looking down on Lao.noand for those temple in laos they claim it to be Thai design and Laos is just a copy on Thailand.

So let me ask some of u here?  What is our true history and culture and where did we came from if Thailand don't consider us Lao as people?  What is Lao???? How r we Lao? We are left without nothing and moral in there eyes while our  other neighbor we teach them by our heart and voice about us being Lao our thresure.  But then they always turn us down along with there new ethnic Isan,  Which is nowadays are different rather same the same.

We call the developing of the art. Are you really understanding about the art?

Our Lao art and tradition has changed with generation to generation until today. We have change a lot since the Franch colonial. Maybe we Thailand or Siam at that time is one of the Greatest kingdom in SouthEastAsia and we was under their control for century and we are not kind of rich city to have much money & gold to creating such more beautiful constructures as same as Thailand or Burma or Combodia. Anyway Thailand has influence from the Ancient Khmer & India as they have Stupa & Pagoda. I'm not angry Thailand anymore as I use to live in the happy life and my well being is the most important. Why should I put in my head which I can not take back the old time. We should living in today. We was not like Chinese, Korean history with Japanese. It's different story.

We was just a small Kingdom, weak King, less soldier, less population. We are so lucky than Xishuangbanna that now become a part of China and their tradition has change to more in Chinese stlye.

We proud in what we have and stay with today and the future. Forget about the pasted and restart to lead our nation for the future. Some day we will be the great country.

I though this topic about the most beautiful Buddhist temple on Earth.  Why must history bring into account?  How many ancient monuments were tainted with hands of slave laborers?  I think most of them are so artistic consideration should be the only criteria in this discussion.

I don't think Laotian really let the past go and if your laotian then u should understand how we suffer from those Thais or siamese discriminate againist my own people for many century!!no    And it well take many generationa and many century before  we even forgive those thais who distroyed everything that the Laotian people built in our history and our current history.

There is many of us who will protect our people from those who try seperate us and distroyed us and this time it will not work because many laotian around the world still love our people the Lao people.  Our society and our culture is different from those from thailand,  don't even say we are the same because some of those thailand culture are mix of cambodian, laos, burma, chinese, malaysian and siam.

I believe my laotian people been suffering enough from thailand discrimination and  looking down on us is enough is enough!  We try to be nice and helpful,  But then those bangkokian still have dirty look on us. no  All I see is thailand failed and they will fail in the future because of this.

These 2 Guardians at the entrace is represented of the Gian Demons who changed themselve to be served under the Buddhism after the Lord Buddha given them the the Sermons and The Gian Demons has become a part of Buddhist who want to be enlighten about. And protecting the Buddhism from any other evils.

the artists have done a great and meticulous work I must say ! in term of artistic matter but in term of where to workship, I think it is over decorated and spending too much money...

How can these Asian countries trust us about how to be fair of the umpires in SEAGAME? If you shown like this behaviour to them!!! What a sham on you, man!!!

Even you see thing like thing and saying like unfair already even you knew what is the true..what is lie. I say this please don't say that I''m not Lao but I love in the real present. I knew what is it. I know that even our art and architecture is still far backward from them.

Person above me^  I think this is about the temple design and architect on there own land and culture.  What I was trying to explain was the temple is over design and it don't look like a temple from those original from the North of Thailand.   Shouldn't the temple be related to those architect from northern Thailand instead of bangkok temple style????????   What I am trying to say is just because I don't like the temple doesn't mean you have to blame all the Laotian person from a one person perspective view.   And let's keep this topic clean since we are here to learn from everyone opinion and yes I had a lot of reply in many topic that ppl will either agree and disagree and I will leave that choice to themself and they can find out on there own.  PEACE OUT!wink

The style isn't bangkok style either. Actually the style lean toward northern style with the northern magic creature and northern philosophy of how to build a wat and stuff. If you know the northern style of Thailand you wouldn't say this. Just because you are Lao doesn't mean you know Northern of Thailand better than those local themselves. It is a new style created by a Chieng Rai artist. He wants to build in a style that no one had ever builded a style of his own. He build what he believes is beautiful and he wants to make it as beautiful as he can to devote to Buddhism. What's wrong with that.

Let your hatred blind your eyes and mind all you want because maybe next life you might can't do that since you have no eyes and no mind to do so.

You never know right? So you should use whatever you have in this life to do bad things as mush as posible like talk **** to other people's devotion just because you hate them.

if you are an artist who has the desire to showcase your talent,
the temple is very beautiful.confuse

using the buddhist temple and decorated it with excessive extravagance is
a bit too much for me.

i question if this excessive extravagance is benefiting the artist or the monks whose personal experience is to live and practice simple live with less desire for wealth, fame, and material needs.confuse

maybe you can build something like this for a king or some queen diva,
those who would appreciate showing off yes?confuse

That guy he just use his own money to built the place to be the Buddhist temple. He may just want to do his best to make it look like his imagination and also as in his works as well.

When he finished it thenhe will offering to the monk and register as the Buddhist temple in the future.

In the ancient time also Lao kings, Thai Kings, Khmer Kings or Burmese Kings they like to built the temples as much as they can b'cos they believed that built the temple and offering to the monk. It will help them to  Dai Boon a lot and they will go to heaven after dead.

It's up to the artist as long as he didn't make any problem to social and religious

The artist needs no showcase. Because he already is an successful artist. His work is so expensive like 10 million baths up and right now it's so difficult to buy, all you can buy is the copies of his work not the real piece. He save the money all his life to build this wat. Right now he is kind of retired all his work is this wat. Not thing to do with showing off but to use the art to refine the mind and that is his intention to benefiting people who come to wat. Buddha said art is a good thing even him appreciate the art.

And if you are a Buddhism you should try to think positive.

positive thinking is only one of the buddhist thinking.
flaunting richness and extravagance is not the way of buddhism.confuse

i can withdraw this comment without wrestling with you,
demonstrating my capacity to have a mind and the ability to think and write
with less popular comments.confuse

but sometimes it is necessary to point out the obvious.
when you build something this like this and this grand and when it's going to take something like
90 years to finish, you are looking to have some personal gratification in the end.confuse

he is an artist and showing off is what artists do.
i see people going there to look with camera in hand.
the place looks more like a tourist attraction, showing art exhibits, rather than a real temple,
a quiet place to pray and meditate.confuse

and btw, the color of buddha is not only white and by him
constructing a white temple, shows how much of a show off he is.
yellow, a color more befitting the symbol for buddhism would have been more appropriate.confuse

If you said so then why Lao Kings build so big and beautiful temple? Why Combodia King built so big sandstone temple of Angkorwat? Why Thai King buil so huge and beautiful of gold & jewery? Why Burmese Kings build a lot of Jedi & Stupas?

You saying like These Kings also just want to show off?

Why dont they just keep it in their mind only or just built by bamboo & grass?

I'd have to say that Yangon's Shwedaggon Pagoda is awe-inspiring, and thus, has to be one of the most beautiful. However, Vientiane's is also spectacularly eye catching.

I will still stand with my believe the temple is all about Art Work Nothing special or religious about that temple but fantasy. And I know in Thailand for modern temple design it will always have to have a chinese design on every single temple all over Thailand. This is just a disgrace to your own ancient people living in those land and Why does Thailand have to add on Dragon and some chinese stuff on the temple???I Don't think most Chinese coming into thailand even believe in Buddha accept Confuscious which this person is a philosopher in the chinese believe. I even ask Acouple of foreigner that had been to thailand they willl all admit its just another chinese province "Thailand".

People going to the sanctuary to look with camera in hand is a normal thing like in India every sanctuary like birth place, death place of Buddha is full of pilgrims.

I'm sure there will be a quiet moment and plece to pray and meditate in that as well.

He is an artist so I'm sure he must has a good reason with his choice of color.
Even if I don't like it but I can't tell an artist to do what I want especially when he isn't serving me but serving the Buddhism.

So what, Lao-Thai believed in Thevarada Buddism and Chinese believed in Mahayana Buddhism. We are the same religious and we have the same "The Lord Buddha"

As long as you follows the teaching of the Lord Buddha and as long as you doing good things.

Hey, Wiengjhunsyvorawong I just wanna ask you, when was your last time you make merit at the temple? Have you ever been to listen the sermon from the venerable monk? You should go there sometime.

Reason I dislike Thai is the same reason why Laotian and many Thailand neighbors dislike them and they think they are better then everyone else.

Better you just shut up!!! You said to those Thai are really bad but actually they are in better status than our country whether Laos or Cambodia anyway.

Whore have in every country in Lao also, in Cambodia also. I have been to Siemriep disco and after the disco closed. There is lots of Khmer hookers girls & guys standing in front of the disco and waiting for customer to pick them back. So I picked one guy back to my hotel and have fun for an hour and paid him so cheap. So handsom Khmer hooker. I look forward to going back there again. hehehe...
