Along the Fangum road, near the Mekong river, Vientiane, Laos.
Many shops spread their area to the river bank, and the gabbages scatter everywhere.

It is so typical of Khon Lao.... out of sight, out of mind!!!  don't want to know where those garbage is going..

If you ignore about the trash soon it will become the source of germs and bacteria or the spread of the disceases that will make you sick and will cost a lot of money for everybody.

Yes, the government should implement some type of recycling programs and education.  Where the citizen can bring in all the plastic bags, bottles, and etc. for recycle to earn some cash.

people who live in the countryside used to use the banana leaf to cover or pack their stuff in the market or wherever . but now the every corner of the country u can find free plastic bag that they give you after buying the stuff in the market or morning market. so ppls dont know how to handle these plastic, some just throw it away as trash, some just dont care.

i think the government should have a new law on this issue. for example: the consumer must buy the plastic bag or bag by themselves when they go to market . the normal plastic should cost about 1000-2000 kip, and the fabric bag should cost 3000-5000 kip/pc, so, the consumer will think about bring their bag or plastic from home when they go to market. in that way, we can decrease the trash and plastic bag in the city as trash.

I thought 2-3 years ago, the Japanese government spent a millions and a million of dollars to improved 68 towns around vientiane,  from a major Roads to a major sanitations, so what i see here in the picture is lack of the impowerment from the city, town, and of course someshops did it intentionally, some don't even have a dumps, to dump a garbage.but scattering around the shop. and in the next few day, they will be receiving a guest from surrounding country coming for Sea-games, that will hit them hard.(Embarrass). Don't guess me wrong i think they do train these shop owners, But not enough. and some have a bad habit die hard.

No matter how much money you inject into projects, if the people's mind and education have not yet been improved, things will always be the same

 Don't worry,man!!!

When the rainny season come and water is high, then.. all trash will be flush out and float to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam huhuhu... (just kiddin')

Well, the local officer should do more on public relations and give the local people who live along the river have more education and know how and where to throw the trash properly. the local officer should provide the proper garbage bins along the public area and pick it up everyday.

But sometime, it's hard to tell local people how to have more responsible to love the water and rivers. It's gonna take some(big) time for them to know to love the river
